HID Update

Don't mind me....I don't know what the hell I am talking about when it comes to headlight technology. Basically all I remember was that the thread talked about some sort of different headlights (I don't have a clue what type) and that Toyota doesn't use them for some glare reason. Sorry, if it was a stupid comment.

No not at all, I didn't know they were ever considering putting those in, figured it was just an option they decided not to include. Just trying to figure out why they'd do it?

Took me about 3 days to figure out the first light, but I didn't have anything to go off of so it was all just designing the mod. The second light I was able to do in 2 days, but that is only because I messed up the second light a little bit and had to redo some. Aiming the lights wasn't too bad, I got lucky and mounted the projectors well enough that they are able to aim well. There are a few changes I would make to my design for future retrofits, some that would make aiming them easier. I'll put those in the write-up.

I am thinking about doing this, but only with the lows. If I can find a wire the alarm so it only goes to the high beams, that would be perfect. I'll look for a wiring diagram for the alarm. If I do this, I will be sure to take lots of pictures of the procedure for everyone.

I'm definitely interested in doing this mod.

I wonder if Toyota will eventually release an HID option next year. That way we can just purchase the parts from the internet or from the dealer.

Do a search. Live4swell did a writeup of his setup a month or two ago. Lot's of pics.

From what I understand, HID will never be an option on the Runner due to safety concerns.

That's what I'm hoping for too. It be alot easier to just buy the assy. already assembled. Any they better fit the 04's!!!

I was hoping 05 would have this option. oh, maybe 06
