HID upgrade, which one to go with?

Attached is a copy of the invoice of an order I placed with Xenon Depot a couple months ago. Hi's, Lows and Fogs all 6000K. The hi's and lows were HID and the fogs were LED. Absolutely amazing quality, no issues whatsoever. Very simple and straight forward installation and if you decide to get a light bar down the road, all of the light temp color will match at 6000K.

Tip- In the installation video, they used a step bit which will typically cost you $35 or there about. I wasn't going to spend that on a tool I was going to use once. Get a 1" hole bit (Milwaukee 1 in. Shockwave Thin Wall Hole Saw-49-56-9815 - The Home Depot) and do the same process for 1/3 of the price. Yes, I know their hole size was .8" and the hole bit is 1", but rest assured the grommet will have a nice tight fit with no jeopardization the interior of the housing.

Really impressed with the expertise of people on this site. Everyone has been really helpful. As usual there are a lot of choices.

I just ordered a H11 extreme kit for the low beams and the LED's for the fog lights. Steve's advice greatly appreciated. The owners manual has info on how to replace bulbs, and I'll use that as a starting point to follow.

Maybe XenonDepot can chime in.

1. Do the H11 ballasts for the 4 runner make a buzzing noise when hooked up to the Phillips 4300 bulbs?
2. Are the ballasts potted or otherwise waterproof, or do i have to modify them?

Installed my H11 kit from TRS yesterday. These are their 5500k bulbs and I went with their 50w ballasts with HD relay. Install was fairly simple with the help of some guides and Saker's posts. Thanks! Might have to lower the beam a bit or maybe I'm just not used to it being so bright haha. Overall happy with the install. Here are some shots:

Drivers side I mounted under the plastic flap where there is a shelf. The passenger side I mounted on a flat spot close to the air pump. I just used double sided tape, some 3m vhb. A friend of mine mounted the relay and ballast to the sidewall to the left of the battery which works too since the Morimoto kit is pretty slim, saker did the same. I wired everything up first to make sure it works then figured out where to mount and route. I'll post up pics soon.

What hole size do I need for the Xenon Depot kit, 7/8"?

Their installation instructions are pretty poor, they could at least tell you what size hole to drill. It's tough to tell measuring the grommet, 7/8" looks like it might be too small but I'm not sure.

the hole can be a little tight.

Took a 1 inch bit and ground into it. Did not go all the way through. When I tried the grommet it seemed to fit. I did not measure the actual size at that time.

If you lift up the plastic shrouding on the sides of the engine compartment, you will see there is a lot of space to mount the ballast.

I did not use the attached wire harness, just the original toyota wiring.

Just wanted to chime in a positive review for the [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] H11 HID low beams from Philips (4300k). I looked around the forum quite bit and found many positive things being said about both the TRS / Morimoto as well as XD HID kits and it looks like you can't really go wrong. I will definitely be doing business with XD again for my LED fogs and DRL / High Beams in the future.

Anyone interested in specific install instructions for the HID kits can find great writeups and pics on either [MENTION=103267]Saker[/MENTION] (Morimoto) build thread or [MENTION=129593]MTN4RNR[/MENTION] (XD) build thread (pg 5).

Edit: a regular 1" hole drill works nicely for the XenonDepot weatherproof grommet in the dust covers.

I'm not XD but I used that setup and 1) I hear no buzzing, I am half deaf but nobody else has said anything, and 2) I think they are.

I am very happy with mine.

Experience XD

I ordered an LED bulb from xenondepot my credit card was charged as usual , next thing I know I got an email from them asking for A PICTURE OF MY ID BOTH SIDES AND SAME FOR THE C CARD they only stop short of asking for my sin number and bank pin.

This was first for me as I used the same card hundreds of times around the world especially the states with no issues at all. Obviously I did not send pics and asked them for a refund which I'm still waiting for btw.

Did anyone outside the US had similar experience with XD? I'm definitely taking my business Somewhere else
