HID upgrade, which one to go with?

I personally like the quality of Marimoto’s H11 HID kit.
All of the connections are made very well and water tight and the kit is easy to install with basic wiring knowledge.

I purchased it at The Retrofit Source.

Fog install

Just received my Xenon Depot Extreme HID 11 with Phillips 4300K bulbs and Xtreme H16Pro LED Fog kits. I installed HID kit in about 75 minutes tucking ballast and power unit thingie underneath plastic trim.

This was my reference and it was 100% concordant.

Now, onto the fogs:
I can't for the life of me, figure out how to do the Fog light conversion to Xenon Depot LEDs. The XD LED kit includes rubber grommets which do not seem to be necessary for this conversion. I can't locate a video online that's as comprehensive as the one above. Despite 1 Great Notion Juice Junior IPA, I'm done and requested an RMA.

Before their email reply, is there video I can refer to online?

I received my kit for Christmas yesterday. I was told it was the Phillips bulbs but nothing on or in the box says Phillips. Did your kit come with anything saying Phillips or anything to indicate it has the Phillips bulbs?

There are no indications on the bulb but I believe it has to do with the blue/black wiring coming from it.

I also ordered the HID kit with Phillips upgrade and saw no indication of Phillips on the bulbs. I would think at the very least the bulbs would be marked. The stock bulbs were marked Phillips on the plastic. I honestly expected to see Phillips packaging with the bulbs.

What are the color of the wires on the non upgraded bulbs that come with the kit.

if the whole housing moves that is a separate issue from the bulb

did you maybe move the adjustment screw too far?

I did not make any adjustments on them , this is a 2018 trd pro maybe they forgot to tighten the headlight bolts will check that next but even over small bumps I can see the lights wiggling .

Here's what all this "wiggling" *sounds like* to me.

First, I SERIOUSLY doubt your headlights are loose, or poorly installed (UNLESS someone's had them out ... then all bets are off). I've had these in my hands, and I assure you they have multiple, solid, mounting points.

Second, it's also possible you've not got the bulb's O-ring in properly. However, I'd think simply tapping the back of the bulb would prove/disprove whether they're loose.

I'm *assuming* you're new to HIDs. Consider: HID bulbs define the cut off line much more dramatically than do halogen bulbs. (See avatar). Some like this, some do not. It is distracting. And for sure, when viewed down the road a bit, eg on a sign or a tree, this line dances up and down with bumps, and I can certainly see how you could take this for a wiggling bulb/headlight. Experiment..... park it where you can observe the cutoff a ways away, and bounce the fender a little. The farther away you see the line, the more exaggerated this effect becomes. On the interstate, I can see this far ahead on the roadside reflectors.

Great point about the cutoff line. Did you do anything different to your projectors besides adding the HID bulbs? I don't think mine is nearly as well defined of a cutoff as yours, really blotchy looking with hot spots.

1- To clarify the 4300K Philips HID bulbs, Philips does not directly make an HID bulb that you could connect to a Halogen base fitment, so what we sell are Philips D2S HID capsules that have been removed from their original bases and attached to custom-moulded halogen bases for the various bulb types we offer them in (H11, H7, etc). The markings that identify that capsule as a Philips product are on the original Philips d32 bases, and since what we are selling is not an unmodified product, we cannot lawfully stamp ‘Philips’ on our bases.

There are a few differences between our home brand (XenonDepot) 4300K bulbs and the Philips rebased 4300K bulbs to help tell them apart:

• Both styles have plastic screw top casings over the capsules themselves - our XenonDepot bulbs have our ‘XD’ logo on a black band all over the casings, while the Philips ones are clear.

• Our XenonDepot bulbs will typically come in white or blue cardboard boxes that identify the fitment and have a code on the front (or ‘Pick Your Fit’ with stickers on the back), while the Philips rebased bulbs come with a small amount of bubble wrap around the screw top casings, and then the bulbs are packed in a plain bubble mailer envelope before being added to the overall box for the HID kit.

2- Regarding the lights bouncing, this can first be caused by the HID bulbs not being securely in the headlight housing either the o-ring is not on correctly, its too thin or the HID bulbs is not straight in the socket.

If this is not the case then its an issue with the headlights which can happen on any given vehicle.

Lastly, you may just be noticing this effect when going over bumps because the lights are simply brighter.

I just realized the pic quality isn't all that great. The idiot Thread has better pics and great install tips.

The bd squadron fogs and phillips hid bulbs are made for each other. I might aim up a bit.

I guess that’s just how they are . so far I’ve tried everything recommended by manufacturer and other people on this forum and they still bounce like crazy . Non of my other vehicles with hids ever had this problem .
When turning the bulb to lock it in place it fits very snug and seems very secure .

Do you realize how contradictory this statement is?
I'm trying to help you, but the answers you post are, frankly, confusing).

1. Did this "problem" exist before the HID bulbs?

2. Does the "problem" exist on both headlights?

3. Have you removed the HIDs and put back the halogen bulbs?
3a. If no, do it.
3b. If yes, what happened?

4. Has either headlight assembly ever been removed? Nothing's impossible, but (if no) I'd be very surprised to discover loose headlights.

I went to length to describe the "jumping" effect of the cutoff line, and as far as I can tell, you didn't even comprehend what I wrote. I harp on this, because this effect would give one the impression of a wiggling light.

Please answer each numbered question.
