HID upgrade, which one to go with?

1. No this problem did not exist before



2. The problem does exist on both headlights



3. I have put the halogens back in and had no problems .



4. Headlight assembly’s never removed.

I’ve got these lights dialed. They perfectly complement Baja Designs squadron sport fogs.

Hid with phillips bulbs.

Diode Dynamics 5000k

Anyone else try installing the Diode Dynamics 5000k HID conversion kit?

I'm a little bit worried about the adjustment factor. The last thing I want is to be flashed.

Is the 5000k a nice color / white?

Anyone know what the white and red wires are for below???

I had a buddy with their kit, I’m pretty sure those wires are to connect to your factory plug in the housing. They don’t supply you with a clip on that end for some reason. It’s a solid connection though and he had no issues with it holding up.

I'm in the same boat with you except I have the Xenondepot Extreme Kit. I have had 3 ballasts and two bulbs that they sent me to resolve a problem on the driver's side and it still fails to ignight or just goes out while driving intermittently. The relay kit made no difference. XD tried to help but after three failed replacements and hours of frustration from me they are refusing a refund. Its just plain unacceptable customer service. It seems the kit is not compatible with 2017 4Runners.

Were you ever able to resolve this issue?

Its super easy to lower the headlight beam. Mine were terribly aimed and I got flashed many times. I popped open the hood, took an 8mm socket wrench with an extension and dialed them down quite a bit. I did get a new suspension so I attribute the extra high aim on the lift. I am very happy with my XD Volt 4300k kit. Good luck.

Has anybody successfully adjusted the aim horizontally or is that even possible? I’ve looked through the forum and also the repair manual and there appears to be a second screw on the 5th gen that will adjust it left and right but it looks slightly different than mine. I have a 2018 SR5 and was able to lower them but I can’t seem to find that secondary screw/gear.

Hey let us know if they gave a full refund was about to order some new HIDs but I will look elsewhere if they will not refund for a non working product

Unfortunately, as per our return policy we don't accept returns on products that have been installed and used. Having said that, if there is an issue with the product then we offer a warranty which depends on the item you get but in the case of our Xtreme HID kit, it comes with a 3-year warranty. In other rare cases, we'll always work with our customers on a case by case to come to a solution.

wonder why the morimoto kit has a seperate power source when other kits dont. maybe to just ensure proper voltages?

Our Xtreme HID kit also comes with a relay harness but it's not required for the install with every vehicle. The relay harness draws power from the battery which ensures you're always getting a constant 12 volts directly from the battery when the lights are on so that there is no drop in power. This ensures no flickering or issues with the HID lights turning off.

+1 for the TRS Morimoto HID kit @ 4500K installed in about an hour looks great. Not too many people flashing while driving
