Why is it a safety issue that you can't close the rear window by the remote? Can't they put a safety stop in it, like they have for automatic front windows that close?

To make sure you're in visual range of the window when it's closing.

Had my truck for a year and I didn't know about the slide out tray in the back seat center console. My kids own that area.

I was thinking the same thing too.

On the other hand, the Sienna and the RX330 both have remote-power-liftgates that I believe open AND close by pressing a button on the keyfob.

So far, I've only forgotten to close the window once (I remembered once I started driving and wondered why there was so much wind noise coming from the back )

Another hidden feature...

I didn't know about this until it recently came to "light". There is a washer fluid level indicator in the gauge cluster (because you can't easily check the fluid level under the hood.)

Mine doesn't have that feature. I've run out of washer fluid and I haven't seen any indicator light.

Did you also know there is a smaller compartment inside the glovebox? If you open it, there is another up higher. It was about a year before I even realized it was there.

Can you post a picture of this?

I read on some website that you can close the rear window using the remote if you just keep holding down the "Lock" button on the remote. Is that not true? (Don't have my 4Runner yet so I can't try it out)

Not true. I have never been able to...this should be a standard feature but unfortunatly it is not.

OK, am I like the only one that completely read the owner's manual & discovered all of these little things!? Have to admit, however, it probably isn't as fun as stumbling across "new" things every so often.

I find that a 1st aid kit I have fits nicely in one of the rear wheel compartments, and a bunch of doggie-doo bags in the other. My dog loves that area in the back!

This is a standard feature on Canadian 4Runners.

Another cool feature, that some may not know about, is the automatic wind deflector, on the power moon roof. The wind deflector lowers at approx 50/60 mph and goes back up at approx 5 mph.

Actually, to be precise, it lowers at 57 mph, and raises back up at 45 mph. But yeah it does raise and lower, which is pretty cool.

the other neat feature of the windows and moonroof is that after you turn off the vehicle and remove the key, the windows and moonroof will still operate for 43 seconds (or until the front doors are opened, whichever comes first). Also, if you have a 2004+ and have a lighted 'auto' on the driver's switch (my 2003 didn't have one, are there any 2003's that did?), the light is lit until the 43 seconds or a door is opened.

All the little things, not to mention big things, that toyota put into this vehicle continue to "sell" me every day. I love my 4r!

Now if I could just raise the back window from remote...

I think it takes a few minutes to think or avoid too many ups and downs. If you are not coming to a complete stop but slow from 60 to 30 it will do it in a minute or two.

interesting. I just took mine out to test it, drove up to 60, it dropped at 57...then I started slowing down and right when I hit 45, it dropped. weird. was going to suggest maybe it was a change w/ the 05's, but someone else posted their 05 does it....I dunno.

What may happen is after going below approx 45 mph it starts a timer and if you don't get back over 57 mph before the timer times out it will lower. I checked it, and after it went down I slowed down to a stop. At approx 5 mph it went back up. Probably if you just stay at 45 mph the timer times out and it goes back up.
