HID's!!!! Returned from SEMA

Hey guys I have FINALLY found a source for our 4th gen if anyone is interested. 5000K, 6000K, 7000K and 12000k. I was at SEMS this past wekk in Las Veags and found a NY York Distributor that will import this AWESOME kit from Japan. Met both companies and saw a hands on Demo.

I want to order my kit first to make sure everything fits and goes as "plug and Play" as I saw before I give the source. I also want to see if I can get them cheaper than $400 a set.

That is what I too was thiking. I just want to make sure they work with no problems (senors lights etc...)

May be I should start a thread or even here to see how many people would be interested???
 
Is it just a balast/bulb/igniter kit with retrofit HID bulbs or is it an actual projector unit? I am interested, pending more info.
 
Hey guys It is a retrofit kit. Bulb, ballast, igniter. Comes with 2 of everything on both sides. All we have to do is plug our factory harness into it, located a moutning spot for the ballast,,igniter and off we go.

Can I get some clarification from eveyone though.

We currently have the

9005 LOW BEAM
9006 HIGH BEAM


Correct?

All I want is the low's Don't really use the high;s that much.


They offer the 9005/9006/H3 and H4Hi/Lo Kits

Hmm I think the 9005 for my low should be fine in a 5000K
 
Sorry, we do not get a whole new headlight or projector. Much cheaper that way I think. Right now they are somewhere around $469.00
 
Okay...I don't get it. What makes this kit different from the others that are already available? I was planning on getting the Hella Gen III balasts w/ built in igniters. These are well proven.

I am still weighing the benefits of adding projector housings like Vortec did. I would like to do the lows and fogs, rewiring the alarm headlight flashers to the high beams instead.
 
You will probably not need your Fog lights done just your low beams. They will be plenty bright probably. But I am very interested in the low beams (5000K) for my 4runner. I can't wait to hear what you can get for us.

No,
I hate the look of cars that have HID lowbeams with regular fogs. The other option is PIAA Crystal Ion Amber bulbs for the fogs.
 
As far as plug and play directly into the existing housings, how would this not blind people? I didn't think the housings could handle this which would cause stray light and extreme glare.
 
I have seen them on the 4gens with out a projector and the beam is still cut off very crisp. No glare. I think it will be fine.
 
HID Upgrades

Just an FYI because I work in the lighting industry.

HID retrofits are not street legal, because HID headlamps need a whole system to be made for them including headlamps, bulbs, and wiring. The headlamps are suppose to aim themselves so that you don't blind on-coming traffic on uneven roads. So if you ever get pulled over (which most states are really cracking down on these now) you'll have to remove them or pay a hefty fine.

Also a lot of these kits are junk, because they take a standard halogen bulb and replace the bulb portion with an HID bulb and supply the wiring to run them. The base in some cases isn't upgraded or is put together pretty badly. So before you purchase them you should check to see if they offer a warranty on them. Since HID lamps should last longer than any stock bulb they should offer a warranty on them.

And lastly the optics of your lamps are made for a specific filament that needs to be at a specific point in the lamp. So you could get a brighter bulb that is aimed in a completely wrong spot.

What about a full retrofit, involving mounting a projector in the housing with hid bulb, ballast and relay harness? That ultimately turns it into a stock HID system, am i right?
 
WOW!! Jason there goes that idea then I suppose. I knew it was too good to be true. Shoot, will they not work then AT ALL?? They seemed fine when I saw the demo, no glare or bilnding spots to speak off. The company that makes them is called HELIOS
