High Pass Filter ?

I just installed subwoofers in the 4Runner this weekend. My Alpine head unit has a High Pass Filter option and when I go into it my choices are OFF, 80hz, 120hz, and 160hz. I have had it on all 3 and think it sounds best at 120hz but my question is, is this just personal preference or is one setting actually better for the system than the others? Thanks.

As long as it's set high enough to eliminate audible distortion from those speakers, then it's all personal preference. 120 is probably fine.

the hpf is altering the signal to the front and rear speakers not knowing the model of the hu and you speaker options im unsure what recommendation to give i have 8" coax in the front of my non yota and xover @ 90 with 6 db per octave rears are 6.5" @ 120 with 18 db and i have a lpf set to 80hz with 12 db (cda-9835 2003) but i do agree that 120 is a safe bet if i had to guess you've got a small void between 80 and 120 but that is difficult to avoid anyway so enjoy

hpf lets more highs thru thn lows so it depends on your speakers on which will sound better subwoofers u will usully pik LPF speakers are HPF SO THE HIGHER frequency number u piik the less lows are allowed thru the filter to the speaker
