Hey everyone,

I'm Tom, from southeastern MA. I have been into cars/trucks/riding for awhile.
In the past I have had a heavily modded VW GTI 24v VR6, lifted jeep TJ, subaru wrx, and just a week ago I bought a 2004 T4R in white, stock with 130k miles. I looked at 4 other T4Rs and all of them were too rusty underneath - very please to find mine that was a weekend rig for previous owner (owned all toyotas) and was very clean underneath, not much rust at all. I will garage my truck and plan to give it the same twist I do with all my rides.

I replaced the subaru with my SR5 because my wrx was a ticking time bomb (even though engine was stock), I bought a house 6 mos ago and am getting a dog - so the extra room will be appreciated (im 6'3 too). I am big into surfing (even in MA winters with a foot of snow on ground) as well as snowboarding and camping - the T4r is a good fit - decent mileage and reliable. I do plan on surfing and snowboarding during blizzard conditions, as well as some wheeling and camping with my truck.

So far I ensured all my 4wd systems work (4lo needed some soft beach sand to engage finally, had me worried!) and it all does, 4hi and 4lo each locked and unlocked. I bought some OEM winter floor mats, wanted to darken my interior (that is in fine shape anyway) so I threw some decently reviewed $13 seat covers, lmao...will look into carhart covers at some point. I removed my sidesteps (suckers were heavier than i thought, she feels more nimble now.) I replaced some LED from toyota for the HVAC control backlights. Also, I order LT255/75/17 Kumho AT51. I plan on getting either the eibach pro truck or old man emu suspension lift in a couple mos, as well as some TRD wheels (for offset to push out more without spacers, and for my new tires.) aside from that I want a scion pioneer headunit and that is pretty much it. maybe some sliders and skids at some point.

debadge and touch up

i finished up with waxing my truck for the first time. i used some OG turtle wax (i really think a big jug of turtle wax is the best value out there over the years and vehicles...ive used meguiars and mothers before but nothing gets it done like turtle wax.) this was good because while the previous owner took good care of the truck, it needs some chips filled in and full wax treatment. i used a sharpie white paint pen for going around and touching up chips. the dent in rear hatch is the only dent i can find - i am ordering a suction cup to see if i can pull it out some (any thoughts?). i also debadged 'toyota' and a dealer sticker from left side of the hatch with heat gun, fishing line, goo gone and patience. i want to delete the side badging too but that will have to wait.

i dropped my spare tire and removed it because i am going to be running 255/75/17 with a full size spare in the next few months probably. while this is out i went under and wire brushed/rust prevent painted another coat on a few areas of my chassis - this should be all set for a few seasons and i plan on staying on top of it.

i bought a fresh brute tote (the best totes IMO) in white for some tools and recovery gear. i am holding off on a hilift and a few other items until i get my lift and wheels setup installed. hopefully i can figure out a way to mount the hilift 48" to the back of my back seats, otherwise i might strap it to the back of the seats, on the bottom.

cargo NET, receiver shackle...

i scooped up a receiver shackle and cargo net recently. the net I bought was a little bit too long (i think they might be designed for laying on top of my deck shelf or entire hatch area, but i wanted mine verticle at the back so groceries and items dont fall out upon open hatch. i ended up tucking the excess under my oem cargo splitter that is laid down. the pic only shows this on one side, i am planning on securing it proper on the left side and using some clips to secure it to the cargo splitter.

my receiver and shackle are in my brute tote. i wanted to keep it hooked up
but it sits a couple inches off my hitch which i dont like, as opposed to being flush. i want to drill a different pin location so i can get it flush, until then it will stay in tote until needed.

anyone with a good eye and/or OCD see something that could drive them crazy aside from the net not being fully secured yet?


 
finally debadged the side badges from my truck (cant stand the trailblazer sides emblems lol)...heat gun fishing line heat gun gas wax

 
FJ Cruiser 6 SPOKES

decided to paint my OEM FJ wheels 1 can basecoat primer and 2 cans of rustoleum metal metallic gunmetal paint. id prefer polished over any but wanted the offset of these w my upcoming lift amd 255 75 and the paint on these was just plain silver...

planning something bright for the center emblems...





my current lift with the nittos crosstek at 40% usable left and kyb leveling struts and springs looks and rides good. i am getting a dog and might delay my 5100 and ome 883 895e with new all terrains skinnies setup until december.
 
Looking forward to some rock sliders i ordered a few days ago...
cyber monday deal bit me and i got the White Knuckle bolt on sliders.

Picked up a full size spare on craigslist too...

Installed lift with new wheel setup. Feels great too. Cant wait to bolt on my sliders and Hitchgate/fullsize spare.

got my white knuckle sliders on...in my unheated garage in February in MA lol...nothing like dealing with brake lines and getting fasteners started in these conditions (below freezing each day of install.) the sliders do fit nice once
you get everything out of the way for the ubolts. solid and they dampened my new 5100/ome setup really nice. next up is my tire carrier for rear hatch.



 
thanks - for anyone interested, too, i had the shop install the longer of front and rear springs both on the drivers side. OME is aussie, RHD vehicles, and say to install the longer ones on that side or something, but i installed both the longer ones on the drivers side and my truck doesnt have the drivers lean anymore from what i can tell.
 
Had to make some nerf bars for my dogs legs...well see how long they last once i start hitting the state forest. Made from cargo netting and paracord.





Looking forward to tire carrier w full size spare next week.

I also installed a molle panel visor and arkon bolt in phone mount I might post some pics of soon.

his work seems fantastic from what i can tell and everything about dealing with him was professional. 20 years welding and a veteran, too. good stuff.
