Well my mom did at least.

Get this, quoted $7,550.00! I'll be getting more info later, but that better be OEM parts!

I priced it out myself, me doing all the labor & buying parts, a shop doing the painting, it was around $1,200. It wasn't with OEM parts but guaranteed to properly fit.

Oh and those Revo's need replacing, they only have 50k on them but the traction is horrible as you can tell.

Has anyone else encountered anything similar?

That sux man! hope your ok and all the damage doesn't seem that extensive unless you like bent the frame or mess up the suspension. Good luck with the insurance cause I kinda got the runaround with mine for a mirror.

Wow, that's a crazy price. Doing it yourself (with a body shop doing the paint) seems a no-brainer. Best of luck.

WOW if you'll post more pics I'll write you an estimate. Pop the hood too and I can get real close to actual cost based on pics. Shops all write high, very high estimates. Are you paying out of pocket? Or is insurance paying? Let me know if I can help

I am SIUC Alum. i'll help out a SIUE guy. Buy that shit and we can throw it on, I might have a line on a body shop in Round Lake(shocking, I know a body shop in RL):wow:, if it needs paint.

With all the snow that fell here this weekend, one of the local TV news stations did a report on body shop's and their increase in biz after a major snow storm. One on the guys they interviewed said that the average body shop bill runs about $2500-3000.

yeah, body shops are high all over the place. It's funny. The company I work for writes our own estimates, but almost every customoer I talk to says, " I already have three estimates" and I'm thinking...Im sure you do.
There are a couple body shop in my area that I trust, but even a couple that are set up direct with my company still write high estimates. I guess it makes sense though, If all shops were honest I wouldn't have a job!

Sorry to hear about the accident.

Who quoted you $7550?

1) Insurance company
2) Independent Shop
3) Stealer?

They (by law) have to share with you the Itemized parts/findings list. Sounds like you have this list. Let us know what's on there.

i myself had very similar accident happen to me last Thursday night :redbrick:. its in the shop right now getting fixed. the body shop quoted me $2500 using all oem parts. major parts that they are replacing are, front left fender the flare and the bumper cover, etc. the worst part is that the wide flares that comes in 06 cost around $380. it costs more than the metal fender

Holy crap! sorry I didn't respond guys, I never got an e-mail! Also I'm still trying to figure out how it happened. My mom said she was switching to 4H and then started to slide to the right and then bam. It wasn't very bad at all out, roads were salted according to my dad. I'm gonna ask her more detail sometime today. That $1,200 figure I gave included a new primed hood and new primed fender, new head light, new primed fender & painting (as quoted by the SAME body shop, $550). My dad still might go with him because they are working on a business deal, one of the employees wants to be an independent insurance agent and such (my dad is an independent insurance agent), so they would pay the $500 for us. Once I get the itemized report Imma drill them, asking where/who they get the parts from OEM or non-OEM, ect. $7,500 better include OEM, 4 new tires and wheels, and buffing every scratch on the body out. lol

SkylineGTRracer: My mom is fine, only fatality is a coffee. lol.

Lexusbstrdchild: Yea, the shop told us there was but we will see once we get the printed quote.

MikesToy: Thanks, me too, my mom is out of a car for a while now.

SurfToy: Exactly, we haven't committed yet, but like I said I'm gonna look over the printed quote once they finish it.

12guns: Thanks for the offer, I'll see what I can do as I'm not sure if my parents have a camera lol. If I'm doing it myself its out of pocket, but if its a shop its insurance with a $500 deductible. (2nd post) Haha yea, I mean i understand WHY they cost more but sometime they are totally ridiculous.

racedirt1: Nice! My best bud goes there, going down there this weekend  lol. Let me know if you do, hood and fender will defiantly need painting, not sure about the fender flare though, might be able to find a pre painted one.

Jeffrey_VB: That's how much I guesstimated a shop would be. Guess not lol.

audiqtr: Both the insurance & independent shop. The itemized report will get processed in the next day or two, I'll then scan it and post it ASAP.

Mike07SE: That's what I'm thinking is why its so high, but it makes no sense I mean from the picture it looks pretty minor, but the tire did blow out.

SuddenAttk: Sucks don't it? lol. Any pics and itemized info?

i just had similar damage to mine after my neighbor let they're 77 Westfalia get away from them.

Mine got hit on the same fender, the damage looks similar but my hood wasn't involved at all (my hood was totally fine, and that may be a big part of it).

My repair included:
- new fender
- new plastic wheel well molding and door molding
- metal work on the door
- new sport edition logo
- painting of all of it, including the door, mirror and new fender
- alignment
- new wheel well liner

total cost was ~$2k using OEM parts. took about 5 days to get it all taken care of. You can't tell it happened unless you examine it in the light and notice a very slight different in paint color.

The truck was a 2003 Sport in that light silver color.

Good luck with yours!
