Homelink Puzzle (see if you can do it)

Here is a puzzle for those who wants most out of Homelink Controls.

Most houses have 2 garage doors. There are 3 buttons on Homelink Controler. Here is a project. Program 2 buttons for each door and third button to open both doors at the same time. It is possible because I've done it. GL all

My 3 car garage only has one garage door. I have homelink but couldn't program it correctly without messing up my keypad outside, if you have THAT answer than I'll be interested!

Good point. Most single-family houses build over the past two decades (about 70%) have garage parking for 2 cars. I'm guessing that usually means one double garage door. The highest rate of 3+ car garage parking is found in the Midwest, where 48% of the homes sold in 2013 had 3+ car garages.

I have an ancient garage door that cannot be programmed with the home link... The damn think I think was made in the late 80's to early 90's...

up here this is usally the setups around here:

really old homes have only a single door or none at all

mid older homes have a single door 2 car garage.

newer houses have 3 car garage with a double door and a single door (my setup)

the expensive home have 3 stall 3 door with some having a 3rd stall taller than the others.

the really expensive homes have a single door 2 car spot, a single high door and a 3 door that's even taller for a class A motorhome or they have a 4 stall garage with the above setup.

now if I want both doors to open at once, I press 1 and 2, but I haven't come across a situation were I need to open both doors at once.

not like I will open the wardens door and my door and not park in my side. we never park more than 2 inside, I make the kids park outside. if they want there own garage to park in, they can buy a house themselves.

Not sure about the whole 3 door garage thing but I programed my homelink and worked great for a few years. Last year my neighbor replaced his opener and now my homelink opens his and mine. Makes for some fun at times.

So now I just use stock remote.

Because it is too much effort to press both buttons at the same time?

I have two garage doors and have two of the three buttons each programmed for one specific door.

Just for fun I kept pressing the third, un-programmed, button. After a few days I got a letter from some woman in Germany asking if I would "stop doing that."

if you have a transmitter, you should be able to program the homelink. just goto homelink.com and look up the info, when you drill down there will be instructions to setup a generic remote.

Program unused button to start , say home car wash or turn all lights in the house. Why have unused options. Have fun with your controls. Turn seat belt and door ajar chimes off. Program ECU to open and close all windows with key fob etc. Don't just drive your car from A to B. Make it fun. :zoom:

Its easy! Just program the 3rd button to an extra button on an old transmitter, then on each door, press the button and program it to that 3rd button in the 4 runner!

Now, you guys want something hard, figure out a way to program my 4 garage doors into that 3 button remote so I'm able to open all doors from homelink only!
