Secure Cargo Storage

I bought two aluminum boxes from the surplus store (19" X 31" X 8" [I think] - were for medical instruments). I cut off the latches (but hated to - such nice storage units - kept one to put on the roof) so they would slide in and out like drawers. I made a frame for them out of 1/2" angle steel and 3/4" flat steel, and put 14 ga plate over it. It has tabs to hook under the cargo net hooks in front and tabs on the back that have padlocks to hold it in place. It fits flush against the back seat and has room for the Hi-Lift jack. I'll probably put some carpeted plywood over it. I have about $200 in everything.

Also, my water/gas can holder for the bumper/tire carrier.

I have been eyeballing an AR pistol for about 3 years. I gotta have one, just have not tried to build one yet. I did a bull pup AK47 a couple years ago, but it was not fun to shoot.

I custom shaped this grill insert out of urethane foam and coated with fiberglass. I didn't want to necessarily do the traditional satoshi mod. even the letters are cut out by hand and epoxied to the part before paint. <br>

He remounted it on the back side of the tube. DON'T remove the MAF. It is an ESSENTIAL part of the EFI system and if you truck runs at all without it (most will degrading to a 'limp home' mode) it will run like crap and get terrible mileage. The MAF meters the amount of incoming air so the computer knows how much fuel to supply. Without it, the computer is guessing.

exactly If you look close you can see the wiring on it (closer to the TB than it should be). Keep in mind the later trucks have just a sensor where the earlier trucks has the whole sample tube molded to it so you would need to insert that whole assembly if you have a 96-98 model. and if you have the 99-02 then you would need to find the flange (same as a LOT of late model toyota/lexus/subaru stuff) and keep the inside pipe diameter the same as stock unless you have a way to tune the ECU or are compensating for larger injectors.

This is a cool thread, so I figured I'd bump it with a couple recent projects....

Rear lower control arm mount skids...

I also made some heavy duty, extended length, rear upper links.

Modified 96-98 style grille...

On the up side though looks like you've gotten the hang of you're new welder. good stuff.
