Honest Opinion: Grill Fog Light Install Idea

I have been playing around with the idea of mounting fogs in grill like below. (currently held on by cardboard for pictures only). It would be centered obviously and more like fog on passenger side.



Do you think this would look good or tacky?

Honest opinion- it kinda looks goofy! Like a weird bug with a lazy eye or something. Don't do it!

I agree. I think they would look ok in the lower grill -albeit you would probably need smaller lights- but personally, I don't like them up there. However, if you like it, do it! It's your truck!

my opinion - I dont mind them up there but I think they would take away from your custom toyota logo.

You may also want to check you local laws, I know here in BC Canada it is illegal to have fog lights mounted at that height. I think smaller fogs in the lower grill are probably more esthetically appealing.

Decent idea.. But why not go with something more stealth for behind the grill so that they don't stick out like a sore thumb?

I think those lights are way too big and way too high. You would probably end up blinding people and it just doesn't look very asthetic to me personally.

I happen to like them, a lot, but I'm a light nut.

However, lights placed there should be driving lights. That would very bad placement for true fog lights.

You looking for enhanced lighting, or enhanced street look?

Going for combination of both looks and extra lighting. Plus just wanted to add a little something different

I don't mind them in front of the grill there, as in a Defiant light bar.

Behind the grill is... a little... meh.

In most states it is illegal to drive with more than 4 lights on (2 headlights and 2 fog lights) and the fogs need to be below the headlights. Some states even have stricter laws on the placement and height of the fogs as mentioned above.

If you are looking to add fogs, go with yellow in the lower grill. This way you have your choice of the factory white fogs or the after market yellow fogs depending on the weather.

If you are looking to add driving lights for off-road use, the uppper grill is the best location since you will get the widest beam spread there as opposed to putting them low.

Before just adding lights to add lights, you need to know where and when you will use them because that decides the type of light to get, driving lights or fog lights.

The way it looks also has to do with the material of your grill. This guys lights are a lot less noticeable
