The sound absorbing material under the hood is cut away from the scoop area, thus indicating that there is a use for the scoop provided for. I'll have to look at the UK diesel Land Cruiser photos to see the intercooler.
If I ever saw the temp rise during hard use in the summer, I might be inclined to cut out the backing from the scoop. Until then I am just going to enjoy the look of the non-functioning scoop. In reality there is plenty of area for the radiator to flow air, making anything the scoop might offer useless.
