Hope I made the right choice

Buying a demo doesn't bother me, but we are fast nearing the end of the "hard to get and will only sell for msrp" stage even on the trail editions. After doing some poking around nearly every dealership in colorado has one with more due within a week.

I thought it was funny how fast the supply can change.

I politely told this dealer if they wanted to consider a couple thousand (meaning 1-2) off, then give me the call. The internet manager's response was "maybe another hundred off" but a thousand was out of the question. So they must be awfully proud of them still, but I just don't see the market staying that way for long.

So my wife and I walked in to a dealership looking for a tundra, however, they had a demo Trail edition 4runner. It was a magnetic gray with sticker of $40,800. (kdss, nav package) 4,800miles

Because it was a demo the sales manager came down to $38,200 + tax +title. Needless to say this got my interest. So we started talking interest rates. It came down to 3.99% for 60 months

To me this sounds like a good deal but something just doesn't sit right in the pit of my stomach so we decided to politely decline.

I just wanted to put this out there and see what your thoughts were.

You were right to walk away. That is a used vehicle and is worth no more than 34$K.

Add another one for Colorado. Picked up my 2010 last night. Drove down to "look" at a Tacoma.....drove home with a 4Runner. Definately didn't see that one coming but they made me a great deal so.....:driving:

Congratulations! I did much the same thing, but I went down to choose between an FJ and a Tacoma. The 4Runner just fit better. Which model did you get?

I would think you could do a whole lot better for a Trail with those miles; of course, finding one would be a problem as there are not that many even new. I negotiated for weeks and finally got one with KDSS, Nav, etc. for $200 under invoice. I was told that perhaps only 4% of 4Runners will be Trails; how many with KDSS. I've had it for about 6 weeks now, but, I've only put 400 miles on it. I'm planning a cross country U.S. and Canada wilderness expedition. I initially thought about Sequoia, used Land Cruiser/LX470, then started reading about the new Trail, so, I took a hard look. It should handle the job nicely. I'll be pulling an off-road gear trailer too. I'll post some pics when I have them.

Thanks! I couldn't be happier. Mountain States just got a Blizzard White SR5 in that fit my needs perfect. Then they gave me $1500 over book on my trade (08 Accord Coupe) and knocked off $2500 off the price. Loving it so far.... perfect timing too since we are getting hit with a nice storm.
