Horesepower and Torque of '05 V8

I have been doing some research to try and verify the horsepower and torque ratings on my '05 V8. According to my research the '05 V8 had the best ratings (270 hp/330 lbs/ft). If this is true the '05 V8 has the same hp as the new V6 but 52 more lbs/ft of torque than the new V6. Can anyone verify the numbers I have found are correct?

Those are correct numbers.
But the way horsepower and torque was measured in 2005 is deferent from the new SAE mesurments that I believe started in 2006.
Just FYI and regardless those numbers: in the real life, V8 4th generation is 1 second faster from 0 to 60 than 5 generation.:wow:

2005: 270hp @ 5400 rpm / 330 lb.-ft @ 3400 rpm
2006: 260hp @ 5400 rpm / 306 lb.-ft @ 3400 rpm

In 2006, Toyota adopted the SAE J1349 rating system, which resulting in a drop power numbers. Same engine, just a different way of the numbers are attained. So you need to compare 2006 numbers to the new V6 for an apples to apples comparison.

According to those numbers, the HP is the same between an '05 V8 and a '10 V6. But in reality, the HP on those two vehicles was not measured using the same standards. If the '10 was measured using the same standards as your '05 V8, then the '10 would have about 10 more HP than your '05.

Don't get too hung up HP and torque numbers because they don't mean much when it comes to real world performance. The tests I've seen of the '10 put it in the 8-second range from 0-60, which is very close to the 4th gen V8 and even the 4th gen V6.

I believe this is incorrect: most of 0 to 60 “real numbers” for 05+ 4 th generation with V8 is under 7 seconds, of course you can find deferent test results, but most of them would be from 6.67 to 7.1.
The best results that I have seen for 2010 was 7.8 (but you can find everything from 7.8 to 8.2).
It appears to be harder to find 0 to 60 numbers for V6 4-th gen but most of them are appear to be in following range: 7.6-7.8.

Not really sure what you're debating....I said the '10 should be in the 8-second range and your numbers confirmed that. As for the V8, I've never seen any published numbers under 7 seconds. But either way, they are all close enough, considering the fact that we're talking about SUVs, not sports cars, LOL.

The extra horsepower of the V6 is kind of useless unless you keep it up near the read line. I'll take torque everyday.

Actually, the V6 makes its peak torque down low, very close to the RPM of the V8. It's not true at all that you have to wind out the V6 to make decent torque.

There is nothing to debate… so I am not debating. Just want to give fellow member as more accurate info as possible.
