Hot air on a hot day!

My 2004 toyota 4runner sr5 only blows hot air on driver side with AC on, passenger side works fine. Little bit of research online points to either 1. left temperature valve actuator issue or 2. HVAC head unit itself with the controls and control module are broke.

Question is, where are these components and how do I check for operation? Unless I'm off base here...

Is it Dual Zone Climate? (I forget if we offered it on those years)

If not, our Camry's do a similar thing when they are low on refrigerent. Never verified if it applies to 4Runners but its worth a shot.

Not a duel zone. Ok, will check that. Very cool skull symbol thing, would make great tattoo.

Subscribed...I'm actually having the exact same issue with mine blowing hot on the driver side. Your the first person that I've heard of having this issue as well

If you have COLD air coming out the passenger side, then you most likely DON'T have a refrigerant problem. I'm guessing you have a blend door issue (flaps inside the HVAC box inside the dashboard that regulates how much hot/cold air goes to passenger or drivers side) Is it throwing a code?
