How can you remove the stripe down the body of the 2nd gen?

Just as the title states. Can you remove the stripe down the body? How did you do it? Looking at a second gen and this is my least favorite part of the vehicle. First post on the forum, just found this place today! Great site.

Here's a couple ways

1. A heat gun and a plastic scraper followed by some 3M adhesive remover.

2. An Eraser Wheel on a drill

heat guns work pretty well, just dont melt the paint

Any luck OP? I too hate the stripe. Especially after it's all faded...

Thread is from 2 yrs ago, OP last activity was in march...he prob sold his runner by now
But as mentioned, heat gun,scraper, and adhesive remover does the trick, just be careful with the heat gun.
You only want it to get warm enough for the sticker to become soft and pliable, heat bubbles mean too warm usually

Any luck OP? I too hate the stripe. Especially after it's all faded...

Depends on how messed up the stripe is. If it is in good shape a heater gun and fingers should work well. If it is sun faded and cracked ( like mine was), an eraser wheel is the best solution.

3M® 7498 - Stripe Off Wheel | O'Reilly Auto Parts

They aren't cheap, but if your stripe is like mine was it will save you hours. I spent about six hours with the heat gun and fingers, and only got about half of the stripe off. With the wheel I got the rest off in about 15 min.

Be very careful not to touch your door handles with the stripe off wheel. It will mess with the look of them.
