Just was wondering why no FJ spring swaps on the 5th gen like you see going on the 4th gens? Do the 5th gen have diff. spring stock than the 4th gen? Thanks.

I believe they would work, I don't know of anyone here that has done that. most people who are lifting the 5th gen are going with a non-Toyota rear spring.

I'm not sure, but I am about to find out soon. I recently picked up a set of FJ TT coils/shocks. Hoping they will be a little stiffer than stock 5th 4Runner suspension. Don't really care about getting any lift out of it, would rather not. Just waiting for my mechanic friend to get a little less busy to give me a hand.

I didn't expect that a TE will need stiffer suspension due to its stiffer/bigger sway bars. An SR5, definitely.

(I looked at your sig and assumed you are planning to put the FJs on your TE).

The bigger sway bars are part of KDSS, and are not standard on a Trail Edition. He may have a non-KDSS TE which would have the same set-up as an SR5.

correct, I have a non-KDSS Trail. I would probably still try it if I had a KDSS Trail because I don't like how much it sags when loaded with camping gear. The KDSS does not help with that.

Just woundering if anyone has tried this yet and if so what the diff. was between the FJ and 5th gen springs.

The 5th gen is heavier than the FJ, I would assume the FJ springs would make no difference in height. For a really basic 1.5 - 2" spring kit OME 883/895e with all factory shocks would be your best bet.

If anything the FJ coils would be the same ones as the 5th gen. Here is a pic for reference. The FJ weighs like 400# more than the 4th gens and the 5th gens weight like 400# more than the FJ if I recall.??

Sway Away 1.5" lift coil on left, 5th gen TE middle and 4th gen SR5 on right.

There is an extra wound in the 5th vs 4th gen. I would like to see a 4th gen running 5th gen springs. That would be a perfect fit.

I have a set of FJ rear springs and they do sit about 1/2-3/4" taller then the oem 5th Gen Limited springs .

That is a side by side comparison ,not on the truck as I never used them and they are sitting in my shed out back as spares.

The 5th Gen Limited springs are a different part number then the SR5/TE springs also. Not sure of the spring rates but alot less complaining on brake dive on the Limiteds but that could also be do to the X-Reas.

Just wondering if you put this FJ coils in the rear of your 5th Gen yet?

The 4th gens weigh less so the OEM FJ 4X4 rear coils give a 1" lift. The 5th gens weigh more so 1/2" lift is not really worth the effort of swapping them out, I would just pay a couple hundred and get aftermarket lift springs.

I'm new to the 4unner world. My wife has a 2011 limited and I stepped up to a 2016 SR5P on Sat. I carry about 400lbs of equipment and stock for my job on a daily basis. I have noticed a significant amount of lean and nose dive when I apply the brakes and the back end sags from the added weight off my work supplies. Do the FJ springs offer more support? I don't want to lift more than about an inch to avoid the other issues of upper control arms and caster being out. Open to any and all suggestions.

You need these, not new springs...
