How did you mount your iPAD, Nexus 7, other Android Tablet ect? (PICTURES!!!)

You have to be very selective about what iPad model you buy. The regular iPads do not have a GPS chip, only the high-end WiFi + Cellular models. Then there's the fact that Apple refuses to use expandable memory, so your $20 32GB SD card option is out and you need to buy the most expensive WiFi + Cellular model just to have enough storage space for maps. A $179 Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" model has everything you need for one-third the price.

What app do you use? I use my iPhone as a GPS when I run long trails like the Mojave Road. I used MotionX GPS in topo mode, download the maps before I go so I don't require service, and use Google Earth to design my route and waypoints which I can overlay on the topo maps in the app.

I figured this all out from scratch, not sure how others are using their tablets to do navigation. Is there a better way on andriod over apple? Or a better app for nav?

If you like what you've got, run it. But at least do the free BCN trial. The way BCN handles map downloads is pretty brilliant. Even my company's $3,600 Trimble GPS units and multi-hundred thousand dollar proprietary mapping software isn't half this good.

Well if everyone os saying this it must be the shit! I like what I use, but there is always room for improvement. Plus I want to get a tablet for this instead of my tiny iPhone screen which is hard to read when going over bumps and such. If I can spend half the money on an andriod tablet, then this seems like the win/win right here!!!

Has anyone actually installed a Nexus 7 into the dash??? I'm flirting with the idea of installing this into my 4Runner but I want it to replace all the controls too. I was thinking of also getting an OTG/charger cable and having a USB port inside the car (that would work with flash drives and phone charging). It would be a pretty bad ass setup.

I just got on the forum today but wanted to share what I did with my 2015 Limited. The stock Navigation... leaves alot to be desired. I bought a Galaxy Tab E 8.0 for $150 at Best Buy and added it to my Verizon plan for $10/month. I bought these little rubber stoppers at HD and set them in the ledge in front of the dash clock... It fits damn near perfectly. I cant figure out how to post pics yet but I'll update when I do...I'll look into the GAIA with the USFS maps - thanks!
