how do i locate the coil packs?

I dont know much about cars. i know a few basics. my moms car is acting up. the obd2 gave me the code P0300. i looked that up and found out it might be one of the fallowing.

Faulty spark plugs or wires Faulty coil (pack) Faulty oxygen sensor(s) Faulty fuel injector(s) Burned exhaust valve Faulty catalytic converter(s).

i know where the sparks plugs are. i figured i would go ahead and try to figure out where the coil packs are located in case the spark plugs fine.

They are the square black box mounted above the spark plugs.
I think they use a 10 mm to remove them, then pull the boot.

Not sure what the problem could be, or not sure how you can test a coil pack, but the other items are pretty easy to change- plugs and wires.

If those haven't been changed in a while, that would be a good start, but if the vehicle has had regular maintenance, it could be a coil pack.

As said, spark plugs would be my first thing to check. Check both the drivers and passenger side, as the spark plugs will wear differently. I forget which side is which, but one side the electrode will pit more quickly, and the other side, the ground strap (metal prong) will pit.

The spark plugs can be changed without removing much if you have some flex joint adapters.
