How do I test a seat belt buckle?

The passenger air bag light sometimes would stay "off" even when someone is sitting in the seat. By unbuckling and re-buckling the belt would, most of the time, turn to "on".

How do I test the switch in the seat buckle?

So you probably know this, but there’s a weight limit on the passenger seat. If it’s below like 50 pounds it’ll say airbag off

The weight on the seat is over 150 lbs.

I wouldn't think the airbag would be dependent on the buckle. Wouldn't you want it to work whether the person is buckled or not? Maybe playing with the buckle is enough to make the weight sensor work properly?

Agreed. Seatbelt being buckled should not turn airbag on and off. Check the plugs / wires under the seat. If those are ok, it would seem to point to the sensor in the seat that lets the computer know a person is there.

It looks like I can measure voltage or restistance at the buckle.
