How happy are you with your 5th gen 4Runner?

I think that's a function of the SR5 without suspension upgrades. I felt the same way and ended up trading in the SR5 and buying a limited. I no longer feel like it nose dives and I think the seats in the Limited are a bit more comfortable. No seat crunching in this one either. <3 some XREAS for sure.

Ltd has the same seat. My beef is not with the cloth, it is with the position or lack of positions after driving a while. The Ltd also has the same brakes and same cheap plastics inside the dash/center stack. I am sure the XREAS makes a huge difference though. Im going to cut my losses on it. Luckily the resale value is good so Im going to dump it this spring. Going back to a BMW 3 with a 3rd Gen or 100 series LC as a backup for my SUV needs.

I had a 2010 BMW 328xi Coupe and 2000 4Runner I dumped for this. Saved me some coin but I miss each one of those vehicles. Finding a 2010 or 11 E92 is simple, its finding a nice 3rd Gen like I had before thats gonna be tough!

I have a new LE and it is very comfortable, but I do not spend the amount of time you do in a car. It is a very reliable vehicle. Good luck.

We put a little over 3000kms in the first month of ownership. That inlcuded a couple 3 hour jaunts with a 22 month and 4 month old in the back. No complaints here about comfort.

The thing about "cheap looking" plastic it may look cheap right now but I can tell you in 10 years it'll look exactly like the day it came off the showroom floor. Expensive looking plastic requires constant cleaning and care. A 10 year old BMW 5 series doesn't look that great after 10 years. My buddy has an M3 and ya it was nice when he bought it new, it doesn't look nearly as good now.

I think my 08 FJ TT handled better than my 4R TE, even with KDSS. The hood did not flex and the nose didn't dive under breaking. Having said that, the 4R has much better (useful) interior space which I need for my RC airplanes when I go to the field. Still, I'm contemplating trading the 4R in and getting a 2012 FJ TT. I'm not sure I want a manual, but I really hate having part time 4WD. I want a full time system. My transfer case has been freezing and I cannot shift it in -20c weather which is not acceptable.

I love my 4runner!

Unfortunately, I commute 150 miles most days for work so I rack up the miles. Most of my friends and all of my family think I am a complete idiot for getting the 4runner.

Honestly....I don't care. Of course I could have gotten something that gets better gas mileage or is cheaper, but it wouldn't have been what I wanted.

Another thing is all the *****ing about nose-diving, crappy steering, and acceleration. I don’t really notice any of that….I think the 4runner is great.

Almost 50k miles in two years and my Limited still drives like it's new. Driving her until I pass it down to my stepson in 2.5 years.

Go with the 4Runner

I have a 2012 SR5 4X2 and gotta say, its the best vehicle I've had so far. I also have a 2011 Tacoma Double Cab Long bed 4X2 TRD Sport, but prefer to drive the 4R daily.

Before getting my 4R, I tested the Pilot and Highlander. I did not like the Pilot at all. The Highlander just seemed like an oversized Camry...IMO.

I go fishing and camping on the weekends, but did not need 4X4 for the locations I go to. So for you, depending on your rec needs, maybe 4X4 should be considered. I got rid of my Murano for the 4R, and owned a 4X4 Chevy Blazer and Chevy S10 truck prior to my current trucks.

I can't really provide input since I average 12,000 miles a year and my work commute is 20 miles round trip. However, this is my first Toyota and new vehicle, so I'm hoping the reputation and reliability will hold up to its promise. Driving 50,000 miles a year, I don't think I would like to be in this vehicle for that long of a stretch(7 hours or so), and I've only had the car for 2,005 miles.

I drove from Charleston, WV to my parents' home in the Appalachian mountains yesterday. The 4Runner ate up the snow and slush covered roads with aplomb. Then, last night, we went to get mexican food with my best friend and his girlfriend. By the time we got home, I could see from the driver's seat that a sheet of ice had formed on the hood of the car. Again, it was sure footed and predictable. I used the sport shift feature to engine brake down the hills and to slow down before dropping over the hill to hit my parents' driveway.

(BTW, yes, that is a 2nd Taco in the background. My dad has 2 of them. The white one is his beater truck for the construction sites. My mom also has a Rav4 V6. We're definitely a 'Yota family.)

I am in sales as well and also drive many many miles during the week. I am super happy about purchasing my 4Runner for this. Although coming from a civic, I am paying more to fill up the tank. Most of all, I feel confident with the capabilities of the vehicle for whatever I encounter from day to day.

ok so i tested a SR5 and limited now. The limited definitely has better road manners and doesn't nose dive or lean as much as the SR5. However, i hate the 20" wheels as there expensive to replace and you feel more small bumps in the cabin. Would have to trade those out which is not a big deal. I also drove the pilot and its definitely nicer for road stuff but can't compete for off road. The bottom seat cushion also feels a little short to me on the 4runner which concerns me a bit as they don't feel as comfy as the pilot. Gonna keep thinking on this but for now i'm not sure i could live with the 4 runner for all the driving i do. But man is it a nice machine and i like it very much. Thanks for all the responses.
