How is it this hard to find a shop to install Icon lift??

Lift in question is an Icon Stage 2 w/ tubular UCA.

I am at a complete loss as to where to go to get this installed. I live in the Prescott area and am willing to drive as far as Las Vegas if I have to. I haven't met a shop yet that knows what KDSS is unfortunately.

I was referred to "Pro Dyno" in Chandler AZ but their phone number goes straight to voicemail (a magic jack number...).

Can anyone make a recommendation on a professional shop who does good work? I was an aircraft mechanic by trade for nearly a decade and have high standards, to say the least. My current job doesn't afford me the time to do it myself.

I never would of thought it was this hard to find a shop to install my lift?!

KDSS is a unicorn... I would not expect hardly anyone to know what it is or how to work on it. Heck, Toyota dealers don't even want to touch it.

There is really nothing you need to know about it for a lift... So I think you would be fine researching the few things here and just guide the shop on how to deal with it. Lifts are so simple to install... it requires basically no real skill. It's simply heavy labor. The speed sensor wire up front is what most people screw up.. Remove that during install and it is pretty hard to mess anything else up. There will always be a few WTF moments... but someone with basic problem solving skills with a little mechanical aptitude should be able to figure it out....

I think the only real difference with KDSS is getting the sway bars connected back up. Probably put it back on ground.. and use something to compress the cylinder so the sway bar can be connected to the LCAs up front. Rear should be real easy.

Give Wil a call at Sierra Expeditions down here in the valley Sierra Expeditions They installed my OME lift & tires. Installed without any problems and I have KDSS; great customer service to boot!

Give Super Duty Headquarters a call in Gilbert Arizona. They are a massive full service shop that builds desert race trucks. They have done lots of work on two of my 4runners and I have been very happy with their work. I just had them do custom led light bars on my new Turd Pro. Lifts and fab work are their specialty.

Call Toyo Motors located at 2818 E Bell Rd.(602) 971-8137. I asked about having them install a lift on my 3rd Gen, they said no problem. They're damn good so I suspect they can work with the KDSS.

i know you said that you're too busy, but give some serious thought to doing it yourself. KDSS isn't NASA technology, but it does present a particularly thorny briar patch for an incurious wrench to get tangled up in.

the KDSS lift installs gone awry (documented here, anyway) have without exception been due to ignorance, not necessarily incompetence.

sounds to me like you're clearly more than competent to do it—right the first time.

I called up sierra expeditions, they just installed a lift on a kdss equipped 4runner a few days ago. Just a phone conversation, reasonable prices, but cruising their website I liked what they choose to stock. I will give them a try.

THANK YOU for those that responded me and gave me options. Shops that do lifts area a dime a dozen but any with real knowledge of Toyotas and particularly KDSS and 4Runners makes me feel better going into it. Tons of spacer lifts running around, I wanted someone with the experience of doing coil overs on a KDSS equipped T4R.

I got my 4runner worked on in Vegas at 4thetruck. They had very reasonable prices and is also a very reputable shop. They build trucks for sema and such. They may be able to beat the price you were already given! Good luck!
