How long does it take for your heater to start working.

I think 4Runners with the Auto A/C unit have an electric heater coil or something, cause my friends 07 4Runner blows warm air right away.

In mine here in So-Cal, I don't get any warm air till my coolant temp is at least 140 degrees. With our cold mornings recently I can typically drive 5-15 minutes before I get "hot" air blowing.

This is interesting.

I've never liked the auto climate control and have been envious of the manual control put back into some 5ths. It would be nice to think there is some advantage to the auto system.

if ya'll look at the FSM and the EWD, it has a pre-heater. check it out. it takes mine about 5 min till it gets going.

I found an odd behave with air circulation on my truck, In the morning when i drove to work and it was cold outside I tried to turn the air circulation on but it keep turn itself off after a few minutes, wonder if any of you experience this problem.

mine does not blow hot air until it is at normal operating temps. it sucks, have to rely on seat heater to warm me up till im rolling on the highway.

I have the same problem, it takes a while for the heat to get warm. If I leave it on one tick above Lo, then the it is pretty cold in the car, seems like cold air coming in from the bottom. Any one have any suggestions? I have a 2011 SR5....

nevermind, I just let it warm up for a few minutes and once I get going I punch it a few times and it gets warm pretty quick now.

My 2010 TE takes noticeably longer to blow heat than my 1998 4Run. I also miss the lap vent.

Has anyone noticed the mixer / vent select doesn't function properly? Works great in the "dash only" setting, but the combo "dash/floor" only really directs air to the dash vents and not to the floor. Then my "floor only" setting actually directs a considerable amount of air to the defrost vents.

If you've got some time on your hands go check it out in your garage with the music off and the blower in high.

I really want to do old school Toyota truck high fives with my friends, but I keep findings these stupid little annoyances.

Yes. Exactly as you describe. You dont get what the detent on the knob is showing. Another annoyance. I wrote to Toyota about it and put it in survey feedback. Of course I have heard nothing back.

Sorry to hear you have the same issue. Wonder how the dealer can fix this?
