Hello everybody! I'm considering getting a 2013 TE 4R but I commute 60 miles per day. I've never had any problems putting 250K on a honda without issues, so my question is can I do the same with a 4R? All the miles will be highway miles (except for all the weekend off road play), will this have any negative affect on the 4x4 system? So how many miles do you have (or have seen) on your 4R? And am I crazy to buy one as a daily commuter? Thanks for any help you can give a newbie!

I, too, have a 60+ mile drive each day. (30mi drive to work one-way). I bought my '13 last Feb and have put 23,500mi on it in 11 months (includes a handful of long roadtrips).
Also have a 2003 honda civic (first car!) with 127,000mi on it that i promised myself i'd continue to use as a daily driver, but it's hard to pick that one over the 4Runner

Your not likely to find much data on if you can put 250K on a 5th gen, as there hasn't been enough time for many members to accumulate that kind of mileage. There are a couple of members that at near or over 100K. However, if you look at the reliability history of the 4Runner, I think it is very reasonable to assume that you could get 250K, especially if your looking at highway miles. Lots of folks daily drive their 4Runner, so that is not an issue. I commute 31 miles (one way) to work, but split the mileage between three vehicles. The 4Runner is the most comfortable of the three.

My 4runner is my only vehicle. I drive 30 miles each way to work and have done trips from Denver to Dallas TX, Manhattan KS, and Omaha NE as well as numerous weekend trips to the mountains. I've put 13,000 on it since September to bring me up to 63k total.
It's been a GREAT vehicle to spend lots of time in. Go for it.

I think you are concern about its reliability? I’m new to this forum and my 4r is a 2014 and really the 5th G 4r is still just too new like noted before for people to start accumulating high mileages. But as a long time Toyota owner of cars and trucks since the 70’s dating myself here, starting with my first Toy with a used 74’Corona in 78, then a new 81’ supra, a new Toyota 91’pick up before it was called a Tacoma putting 250,000+ and sold it to my friend for his daughter to drive it another 75,000 and she never had any problem with it before it got sold. Got a new 03’ Tacoma which I still own with 158,000. All of them was my DD commuter 48 miles one way daily. I never had any drive train trouble with any of them which is why I staying with Toy and have bought the new T4r. I don't baby my trucks. I took them everywhere and had abuse them along the way but nothing extreme. I think just about everyone here have Toyota’s because of their blueprint reliability. All the capabilities don’t amount to anything if you can’t depend on it. Just an old man's perspective.

I now have about 66k miles on my 12 4Runner, I certainly hope to get at least 250k out of it.
I put 280k on a 2000 Grand Cherokee and then 220k on a 2004 Grand Cherokee before I traded it in on the 4Runner. Those Jeep miles were not exactly what I would call trouble free. So This time I thought I would try Toyota because of the reputation for reliability.
The research I did before buying, and now 66k miles of trouble free driving have me feeling pretty confident that the Toyota will hold up just fine.

112,000 miles on my 2011 SR5 4WD.
No issues that weren't fixed under warranty - Transmission & Drive Shaft.
I'm not even half way through my second set of tires and still on the original brakes.
Other than an unknown noise in my transfer case, that seems to stay the same.
The truck has been pretty rock solid and an all around great truck off road and for hauling the family up the highway.

Bought my '11 new with no miles back at the end of November of 2011. 76k right now. I put over 500 miles in a day depending on where I have to go for work. Sometimes that happens a couple of times a week. I'm in sales and my territory is all of New England so I do put a lot of miles on her weekly. I drive it back up north every weekend to go riding during the winter and meet up with friends to wheel it during the warmer months. Needless to say, it gets driven. A lot. She's been a trooper so far.

I'm planning on at least 250K. Have 35K on my 2013 that I got end of December 2012, so I've had it 14 1/2 months. Miles are daily commute, and many trips from CO to CA, AZ, etc. PLUS some trail miles. I'm changing the oil every 5K miles (my choice).
