How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

how much are you guys buying the PRO in socal? and the trail premium?

I bought many cars over the years under invoice pricing. but it seems like 4Runners and GX460 are the worst to negotiate.

I can't speak to the Pro, or to SoCal... but I just went through my first purchase experience for a brand new Toyota. I had to shop around, a LOT. And be willing to drive a few hours. I went with internet sales approach. A few of the dealers clearly don't have an internet sales department, refused to talk price via email, and would only insist on me coming in to talk; they didn't get my money. The rest of the "local" dealers would talk price, but their "best possible, aggressive" prices were well above TrueCar numbers I wanted to pay.

With continued expansion of my search I met with a real internet salesman. I have to assume he makes money off volume only, and not price (or salary). Anyway, he was willing to deal. after just 1 back and forth on price, we had an agreement (he kept talking OTD prices, I wanted to talk pre-TTL). I took a vacation day, drove up the next day and bought my new Limited. It was a lower price than the lowest TrueCar reported for the same car, nationally.

So, in summary, expand your search, don't waste time with people who aren't willing to play by your rules. And finally, you might just be screwed since you're looking for a TRD...

Out of curiosity, why did you not want to deal with the OTD price during negotiations?

I had a trade in, but the sale was not contingent on me trading it in. But I'm also in a state where your trade-in amount is deducted from your sales tax on the new car. So, talking OTD includes taxes, which will vary based on what they give for trade-in, or if I trade at all.

I ended up not trading in, so am now trying to sell my F-350 private party. As long as I make up the tax difference, it was the better decision ;)

2016 4Runner SR5 Premium

Just purchased a 2016 Midnight Black SR5 Premium from Golden Valley, MN for the wife. Currently it is in Portland, OR and should arrive at the dealer around 8/19. I only got $3000 off the MSRP.

$38,829 - $3000 = $35829 Before TL&Fees

Planning on no modification.

Just got offered 35431 for a trail and 38588 for a trail premium. So far that's the best deals I have come up with. But they do include a lifetime power train warranty.

Had a run in with a salesman from a dealership in Nashville TN this weekend. Told him the price I could get a TEP, KDSS and Rear cargo and he came back to me with a TE + KDSS for MSRP + 5k in adjusted market value and proceeded to tell me that they don't negotiate on rare models.

The total was $45,307 + TTL for a TE. Needless to say but I told him that karma would pay him a visit for being such a crook.

Interesting I was going to call some Nashville dealers as I can't get a KDSS TE here in Huntsville. Was it cool springs Toyota by chance?

Toyota of Cool Springs. I'd stray from them unless you just want to see first hand why people mistrust dealerships. Will they not order a TE with KDSS or will they not order any vehicle with KDSS?

Thanks! Saves me the time bothering with them. When I talked to Bill Penney Toyota a few months ago they could order me a trail but not with KDSS. I think due to being in the SE Toyota region. I've started looking outta state. Seems easy to find out West for good prices but it would be a long drive home.

You are welcome. I am being told I can get a TEP ordered with KDSS but getting a rear tray is a toss up. One is telling me the port installs these and won't install them. The other says you can get whatever option you want but then this makes it 'RARE'. I'm sorry but I am not looking at Bentley, I am looking at Toyota. Not sure what these salespeople think Toyota is...

I tried Bill Penney and got the 'RARE' care.

Newbie to the forum here. Just picked up a 2016 Trail, no KDSS. With the rubber mats. Used the recent grad discount of $500 to get it to $32,500. Also got the dealer to take in my 2015 GTI for $2k over KBB at $23k. Walser Toyota in the Twin Cities.

Which dealer did you go to?
Hieser Toyota. Amazing experience throughout, 41,800 plus tax out the door. Gave me the most for my trade in than any dealer in the area.

Ask for Craig as the sales guy. Straight shooter.

Good advice here. Time, effort, and searching help get a sense of what prices will move a vehicle out the door and what prices you're comfortable with. I tried for 2 months working with a local dealer, but they had no inventory. My last effort was on a Wednesday and they could locate me a car for at least $1,000 more than I knew was a working price. Thursday I did a little more research and called a dealer elsewhere in the state. After 5 minutes on the phone we negotiated a price $900 less than I was quoted the day before (likely the difference between having one on the lot and buying from another dealer), and on Friday I picked it up (did have to drive, with a one-way rental too). No TrueCar masterpiece like yours, but my deal was rated very well against their sales data.
