There is NEVER a good time to have a vehicle stolen or be totaled in a wreck, but especially bad now. Take extra care of the one (s) you have now.

would like to get a 22 4runner but wife wants to keep the 17 after all the mods. I'll probably buy the heritage grill for it as well. Next car will probably be the next gen tundra , sequoia or LC. Congrats to those buying the 22

I guess I’ll find out soon, but the dealer provided a sheet with options and even the VIN. I understand there’s lots of delays with ocean freight from Asia. Hopefully mine is already on a boat. We’ll see….

If I had options in the area, I would’ve taken my business elsewhere.

The prices people are willing to pay for a 4runner right now blow my mind. Most people paid 8-10% below MSRP prior to the summer of 2020. Now people are paying MSRP and more. That's like a $5,000-7,000 swing.

This market is wild. I paid $37k for a Trail premium in 2015 (now a TRD OR Premium with KDSS). I'm not sure you could even find an SR5 base model for that right now.

But I want to trade for an LC200 - Used LC's that would be $40k two years ago are $60k now.

I talked to a dealer about the new Tundra. They wanted a $500 (non refundable!) deposit to get on a list that they would then contact about ordering when they were available to start requesting allocations. I'd get on the list, but non with a non-refundable deposit on a truck we have no information at all about including how much it costs or what trims or drive trains it'll have. But I'd bet they have a pretty long list already of people who would pay that. My friend owns a dealership that I'd buy through anyway and I can probably still get one at or near their cost as soon as the first wave is over - but I was surprised how bold the local Toyota dealer is in what they were asking just to get on the list.

Agreed. This is a matter of supply and demand. Due to materials shortages, Toyota has just announced a 40% reduction in their production plans for the 4th quarter. I’m in the automotive materials business, and we are currently struggling with the demand for our nylon. We have customers on allocation and prices are double what they were in 2020.

On the positive side, if you have a trade-in that is in high demand, you can pretty much offset the high price of the 4Runner. I have an 2019 Audi Q8 with 20K miles, and I’m getting just about the amount I paid when I bought that car. This car was a demo and I bought it in May of 2020 at a bargain price. Dealers did not know what was going to happen with the economy and were dumping their inventory.

Regarding delivery, I spoke to my Toyota dealer, and he is so sure my 4R will arrive that he wants me to go ahead with the paperwork a week before it gets here. I have the VIN and the list of options, so I’m pretty confident about it being for real. Dealer did say that new orders for 4R will probably not deliver until November or December.
