Just picked up a TRD ORP w/ MTM and some other port options for 3,400 under MSRP at Klamath Falls Toyota. Will have it shipped but still way cheaper than buying in CO.

^ Wow, good deals to the last two! I wonder if being somewhat loaded with options influenced the dealers' willingness to go that far below sticker? Any mandatory dealer adds, excessive dealer fees?

For Klamath no, price was the price. Super easy dealer to work with. Big thing for the discount was it was on the lot and they have more coming in so wanted to move it. It was their advertised price, so didn't even have to negotiate. I had reached out to Sunnyvale before but never got back to me. Found another dealer in WY had a deep discount but dealer fee's and other stupid things drove cost back up. Feel pretty lucky to have scored it, was pretty much everything I was looking for.

That's nice that prices are softening. But now I'm thinking...do I really want anything built during/just after the covid supply chain labor issue era??
I'm now thinking I'll wait to '25 or '26 to ensure that I'm hopefully getting a quality built, or a '20 with a build date in late '19.

For giggles I went to their website. Only 42 vehicles listed as "new" and I'd guess other than for the 8 without a stock photo nothing is "in-stock."
So if you are lucky you may have a choice of roughly 8 different Toyota vehicles (about half of which were 2023 Tacomas). Wonderful advertising campaign indeed.

Nah, words are meant to be interpreted. You walk into said dealership and tell them that you want invoice pricing on a vehicle regardless of whether it is in stock or not.
They either want your business or they don't.

I paid MSRP for my Pro in 2022. I think things are loosening up a bit at current due to higher interest rates

The local Toyota dealers are proud to sell at MSRP.
Here's the thing, the 2-page window stickers start with the left page listing the factory installed options like KDSS for $1750 and the first MSRP, and then the right page that used to list the PIO (port installed options) now just list options like floor mats, bug shield, phone charging wires, tail pipe extension, blackout emblems, roof rails, Predator rails, black Pro wheels ($1700. Not a misprint), etc., etc. and the bottom line is then also listed as MSRP.
So they are selling at MSRP. I laughed at them and told them to charge what they like, but stop lying to me. They aren't fooling most people with their little reprinted window sticker games.
I'm nearly 73, wanted a replacement for my 2016 Trail Premium with KDSS and was willing to write a check for it. But they needed to stop trying to blow smoke up my kilt. "You want $75k for it, just say so, but cut out the nonsense and stop being insulting." They took it. I'm just some old guy who wandered in off the street wearing shorts, boat shoes and tackle shop t-shirt.
They looked me up in the system and saw I'd paid cash for my 2016 and my wife's 2016 Avalon Touring three days later. Yes, dealers take personal checks. I told them not to press me on the finance office offers, so they didn't.

Port-installed options are still Toyota-sanctioned options. You can see them right on the build and price tool. It's legitimate (and correct) to call the grand total with port installed options the total MSRP. It's just not efficient for them to install every last thing at the Japan factory. Hell, even the TRD PRO has a ton of its special standard bits installed at the US port. Now if you have DEALER-installed options, that's a different story...
As far as how much options on a 5th gen can blow up the price... I find it pretty hilarious. You can tack like $10k onto the price of an ORP if you check every silly box. KDSS, slideout tray, MTM, predator steps, TRD exhaust, TRD wheels, sunroof, TRD roof rack, etc? No thanks lol

I kinda get the concern, but it's been a while since that, and Japan kept their quality up. I have no worries about my 2023, and 5th gens will probably end production within the next 12 months. I agree that I would be a little paranoid if I had a 2021, but honestly it would probably be over nothing.
What if 6th gen production moves to the US/Mexico? Would a north american 2025 on a new generation be better built than a 2023 Japan built 5th gen 4Runner?

If you want to believe that. The M in MSRP is manufacturer, not port.
MSRP does not stand for manufacturer-sanctioned. I called the dealer on their reprinted 2-page window sticker and their claim to sell at MSRP and they shuffled their feet about their bragging about selling at MSRP and said, "Buy it or someone else will." They never once denied my accusation.
I wasn't trying to beat them down on the price, I was only confronting them with their BS dishonesty. They acted like the kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
If they won't come out and tell me to my face that the total on page 2 of the window sticker is a real MSRP... then it isn't.
I also pointed out that they sell the TRD wheels for $299/each and not the $1700 for 4 that were installed at the port. More foot shuffling.
They can charge what they want, but I wish they'd stop lying. I told them that.
No wonder so many people are looking at and buying Hondas and Mazdas. People who have been Toyota families for generations. Will they ever be dedicated Toyota buyers again? Beats me.
