i have 285/75/16 tires and i was wondering what tire pressure is best for good mpg and handling . right now i am running 25 psi on all 4 tires. is that too low?
how mush psi do i put in my bigger tires

seems low but it also depends on which brand and specific tire u have. Ex. goodyear duratrac is diff then the bfg all-terrain...

i have cooper stt's. it might say it on the tire but how does the tire know what kinda vehicle i have becasue doesnt the wieght of the vehicle effect how much psi to put in

dude ur best bet is just to go to discount tire and tell them to need air in ur tires and they will do it for u for free and u can ask them the suggested amount of psi for ur tires with ur rig. I have been doing that for over a year and my tries are not from discount...
it can but then again what load rating tire did you get? cause you should have gotten a certain one for your load requirements now thats all assuming you knew that so the tires psi would have been just right for your vehicle weight that your concerned over.
but being that you probably arent gonna gobuy new tires just to get the 'correct' ones the BEST option for you would be to use a temp gun and go for a drive till your tires are up to operating temp and then check the temps in the center of the tire and outer of the contact patches and either add or subtract PSI to try to even the temps out. BUT these temps can be effected by alignment or lack of
most just air to tires recommended on highway then whatever you need off road.
but 25 is way low just because its a bigger tire dosent mean less pressure highway.

Inflate the tire to about 50psi or so.
Draw a line with some chalk across the tread pattern.
Drive around the block.
See if there is any chalk left on the outer edges of the tread pattern.
If there is... let out 3psi.
Repeat as necessary.
This will ensure that you are always properly inflated for the load you have in your truck.
25 psi is not suitable for extended periods over 50 mph or so. The tires will build up too much heat, become damaged, and possibly blow out.
It is always safer to aim on the high side... just expect a little rougher ride.

Not to single you out but, everyone should know that what is on the tire is the MAX cold pressure. Not the recommended pressure.

x3. do not exceed the max tire pressure for the tires you have. It is on the side of every tire. The reason to run close to max on the street or Highway is that the tire will run the coolest at max pressure and your tires will last longer. As you lower the pressure on the street your tires will warm up and if run to low can get hot and cause belt separation and a very bad day. Off road you can run as low as you want but most radials won't say on the rim below 8 or 9 psi but that low they have great traction and ride nice and soft. So get a good low psi tire gauge and enjoy the best of both worlds.

My P265/70/16 Dueler AT 695s were installed with 32psi of Nitrogen. I thought the tires felt VERY soft on the street. Quiet and plush, actually. However, I did lose at least 1 MPG vs the Michelin Cross Terrain SUVs of the same size. I ran them at 34psi.
After airing down for some trips on the beaches, I refilled the Duelers to 44psi of regular air. The ride firmed right up to the point of inducing some road vibration at speed on very smooth roads. It did seem to help the mileage however. My last tank clocked in at 18.2 mpg. I don't have enough tanks to see a trend with the higher pressures, but I bet I will see a long term improvement in mileage.
After I confirm the new mileage with the higher pressures. I think I may drop it down by 2psi increments to get a good balance of highway comfort and gas mileage and treadlife.

I run 30 in my BFG AT's, they seem to be doing fine.
