How often do you replace the thermostat?

Hello all. I’ve got 177k on my runner. But it’s now pushing 23 years of age? Should I have the thermostat replaced?

The radiator was replaced back in November because it had a crack in it. Dunno if they replaced the thermostat though.

I mostly replace the thermostat with the timing belts. I would change it if it's over 20 years old if you want to. They are very easy to change and get to.

Agreed.
I've changed mine twice. Once when I did a drain and fill of my coolant about 5 years ago, then again when I had to replace my radiator about 2 years ago.

Just changed with my timeing belt at 155k miles. At 255k now so i should do it eventually. Maybe just check the belt and decide then.

The thermostat is a good place to go OEM. And make sure the 'jiggle' valve is at 6 o'clock (upside down from almost every other engine out there).

They should be done every 100k I'd say, but pushing an original to 300k is not unrealistic if you are diligent with coolant changes.
