How to change Transmitission oil??

Anyone know how to change the Transmission oil for a 2010 v6 4runner?? anything special i should know?? i tow with mine and the manual says i should change the oil now. also, anyone know what grade diff oil i should use for the front/rear diff and transfer case as well?? thanks

Sealed unit. Shouldn't need change unless severe use or towing.

So I am assuming you are close to 60k on your 5th gen, I don't know if the 5th gen has any threads on transmission fluid changes; but the 4th gens run a very similar transmission (I think they may be the same, I can't remember off the top of my head) but they both use WS fluid and the procedure is going to be the same. I would recommend you search in the 4th gen section for Transmission flushing.

Also, Toyota among many other manufactuers is very misleading about WS Fluid and other "liftetime" transmission fluids... its not immortal fluid of the gods, its just long life stuff. Should be changed out around 100k under normal driving, every 60k if severe driving/towing (IIRC).

Front and rear differentials take synthetic 75w90 gear oil available anywhere.
I just changed my rear diff lube a couple days ago for my 50k mile service. I used Amsoil Severe Gear lube.

I had changed it at 20k miles and it had some sparkles in the used fluid. This time it was fairly clean, but a little darker in color than fresh fluid.

I seldom engage the front diff so I dipped a finger in the fill hole and found it still real clean, so I did not change it.

Same with the transfer case, still very clean at 50k miles. However I did order some of the correct Toyota 75w transfer case lube and have it on hand for the day when I decide to change it. It is p/n 08885-81080.

As for the transmission, from what I have researched, it can go 100k miles until service is required and the service that is required is simply "checking" the fluid. But I have no idea how they do it.

I plan on having it changed when it gets to 100k miles in another year and a half or so.

08885-81080 - OEM Toyota TRANSFER GEAR OIL LF

Here is the link to the transfer case oil. It is not cheap, but it is not the same as differential gear oil. I think some people just use diff oil in the transfer case and it may be fine, but I prefer to use the correct product.
