How to hook up I-Pod 4th gen NANO to factory stereo?

I am looking at this connector for my factory single disc/cassette...to hook to my new NANO.


Is this a good choice? Does anyone have a better suggestion?

That is one way of doing it.

But what other members have done (and what I will be doing) is purchasing a Scion stereo, models T1806, T1808 or T1809, and installing them in place of the factory non-JBL system in our 4Runners. It is a perfect fit and direct bolt in. You will also need to buy cable sc12235 off of ebay for about $70.

I was able to find a T1808 for $75 and with the cable isn't much more than the USASpec device and it will perform better.

I noticed you added non-JBL system, is there a reason for that? Are you saying if it is JBL this Scion swap out will not work?

yes the scion radio will not work with the jbl system, i belive because of the different factory amp...not excatly sure

I recently installed the TOY15 USA Spec adapter in my 04 Sport (6 disc, 9 spkr JBL system) and let me tell you, that is the only way to go! No changing the head unit, no splicing of wires, sound quality is awesome! Just plug and play and you

Another thing too, if your head unit has the text button, it will also display the artist and the track being played on the display. You can also control the iPod with your steeing wheel controls if you have that option.

Going with what Tempsho said, if you're wanting to see what song and artist is playing and you don't have the "text" button, then this isn't the device for you. I was going to get it until I did some research and found this information.

True, but chances are if it's your iPod your listening too, you already know what song it is. I did it more for the increase in sound quality vs a cassette adapter or FM transmitter. The text display feature was a bonus, but not the reason why I bought it. To each is own I guess. The fact that the USA Spec unit charges the iPod while you listen to it is a nice feature also.
