how to install new springs up front

Hey guys - despite this being my third lift on a 4runner i've never reused my old springs with new shocks (PO just put new springs on). I have the tacoma bilstein 5100's and am wondering after i compress the spring to remove it from the stock shock do i decompress it (re move the spring compressors) to re install on the new shock or leave it compressed? I will be sitting them on the second perch for about 1" of lift. Thanks for the help

nope, when you compress them and take them off the old shocks, leave them compressed, remove the top hat and move the springs still compressed over to the new shock, then get the top hat in place(bolt it to the shock) then slowly decompress the springs.
you might end up needing to compress them more then how they are on the old shock, due to the higher perch setting on the new one.

What he said... Leave them compressed... you'll just make more work for yourself letting them recoil.
