How to put flares on a flareless 4Runner??

Limited or SR5 flares?
If limited, they are wider and do require drilling.
If SR5, I do not believe they require drilling.
Body panels are the same shape for all 3rd gens, so that is not a problem.
I remember seeing someone adding limited flares to a 3rd gen, but not sure if it was here or Yotatech.
Anyone?...

If that can't be done without a ton work then does anyone know a way to put running boards on a flarelss 4runner. I saw a pic of a 4runner somewhere that had an extra piece of molding which bridged the gap between their flareless fender and running board.

Then I would say Limited flares going on any model other than a limited, would require drilling.
SR5 flares going on any model should not require drilling. BUT if putting SR5 flares on a Limited, will leave open holes that were previously covered by the Limited flares.
Make sense?

check out some of the classifieds for people parting 4runners out. ttora and yotatech had some...not sure if they were SR5s or not

Didn't LINY4Runner put SR5 flares on his 01? If you need help putting them on you should ask him.

My SR5 came without fenders and had the molding piece that bridged the gap on the running boards when i bought it. I have them laying around somewhere.

Funny... My SR5 came with Limited Style Flares and Running Boards, and there ARE holes in fenders under the flares.

Anybody have pictures of their flares while this is a new topic? I took off my chrome, inch flares months ago and just got my 4Runner repainted sunfire red with black bumpers and was wondering about black flares.
I'll search as well for topics but wouldn't mind seeing updated ones, etc from new comers and others.

The limited flares on a Sr5 are going to look goofy unless you put the limited siding on the doors as well because the flares are tied in with those. Was that your plan? If you get the sr5 flares it will look fine, just like LINY's.
You ideally need to find SR5 wide flares from a 2000+. Here is the thread with some pics of installing them:

Bushwackers will actually save you money likely
The pricing of the Bushwackers scared me away at first also. But having shopped for used Sport flares and SR5 flares, the Extend a Fenders are actually a bargain. New those flares would be pushing $1000 at a dealership.
You can do slightly better than $350 shipped online. Just keep googling best price Bushwackers.

keep paging back in time on this sub forum and you will run across his outstanding looking work.

My SR5 4runner came with the limitied style flares and I don't think it looks goofy.

post a pic. On the limited's, the fender in the rear is attached to the side trim on the door.
