How TOUGH do you feel while in your runner?

Ok, yeah, I guess this is sort of a brag thread in a way, but how do you guys feel while you are in your baby? When im in mine, I just feel indestructible, like no one can touch me, like I can do anything. Once I hop in and buckle up, its on!! Literally, when im driving down the road, no matter where im at, im always observing ditches, hillls, dirt roads, other vehicles, whatever, wondering if I could conquer them, and in my mind im weighing all of them up. Picturing myself in my runner, or my wifes ZJ, or my old TJ Wrangler, and wondering who would come out ahead. I pass by another 4x4 vehicle, and I think, you aint $IIT, or, holy crap, you are the king! I pass a Jeep and wonder if hes got a 35 rearend, or a Dana 44, if hes locked, etc. I pass by these "STREET QUEENS" that are lifted to the clouds and just laugh. They might be looking down on me at the stop light, but I darn well guarantee he cant do half of what I can do!!! Am I just obsessed with my runner? Yes, I know I am, but thats why we bought them, and thats why we modded them. Do I go overboard with my thoughts? Heck yeah! Whats life without a little imagination!!! Any thoughts here? Lauge at me if you wish, but I want your thoughts too!!! I guarantee at least 50% of you do the same thing I do!!!

put a tapout sticker on it already ...

LoL.

In your defense though, your 4Runner does look F'n bad@ss.

Man, its just crazy how I feel when im driving her. Its hard to explain. Ive never felt so confident as I do when im out and about! And not only because of what ive done to her, but with just how capable our runners are stock!
LOL, and thanks for the compliment, makes my head even bigger. Its just funny how, our runners, we really only have to lift them to be able to do anything, but with my wrangler, holy cow, I had to upgrade EVERYTHING, axles, gears, etc, just to feel safe on the trails to know I wouldnt break. Yes, I know crap happens, and weak spots break, but Toyota is the best. IMO.

Yes, ive had a couple beers tonight, so im feeling cocky!

MAN, I know exactly what you are saying!! When I moved to Colorado from Texas, and had my Wrangler, the LSJC Jeep club was pretty tight knit. Any time you would pass another jeep, you were getting the "Wave". But I moved to CO, and before I sold my Jeep, I would always eyeball any incoming Jeep, and it was always either a chick, who had no idea what she was driving, or an older couple, who was the same way. Now, I have my runner, and its starting all over again. I pass another one, expecting to give a thumbs up, or a wave, and its always a chick driver who, once again, has no idea or no need whatsoever to be in that vehicle. Yes, it is sad!!!

I'm right there with ya STRRAYNGE - new 4Runner owner in the past month and feel the same way when driving it.

Unfortunately it's usually driven by the wife so I'm contributing to the soccer mom driver statistics here in WA . She complains some about getting in and out with the kids since it has a 3" lift, but she likes the commanding view of the road.

I was in the same boat! Wife complained about getting in and out, but my girls, ages 5 and 6, just wore me out with complaints. So, I bought my sliders, and just gave them a slight angle up so that they could be used as multi-purpose, protection, plus loading assistance. Not a single compaint now!!!

exactly. When i see a guy in a 4runner thats basically stock but almost has that feel where the guy actually loves his truck i give a thumbs up only to be looked back at like im crazy ahah i gave up and only wave to guys i know are on this site aha

Thats how I felt when I was in my 400whp Talon. I could drive up to a old guy in a 2008 Z06 Corvette and just laugh at him in my 1993 4 banger Mitsubishi that I paid $1000 for, LOL. My favorite things to eat up where 600 to 1000cc Crotch Rockets. My best kill was a GSXR 1000cc.

In my 4runner I feel a little not as tough I guess. Maybe if I had my body lift, 33" tires, some lockers and armor I might feel a little tougher. I dont feel tough till I'm on the trail making my friends scream like little girls.

I ALWAYS look at other Runners. But they're all driven by college chicks (which isn't bad :naughty: ) or old people in my area... but now and then I get that one bro, always on the other side of the road, and we both do a double take and look at eachother like "yeeaaahhhh, we're the ****"

I know what you mean here for sure!! Before I had a family and before I was into off-roading, I had a 1970 Oldsmobile 442, Hurst Olds, W-30. Not many will know what that car is, but it was a classic muscle car. I drove it many years stock, and had no worries, then, I decided to sink about 6k into the engine, and built that 455ci up to about 650hp! It was a sleeper. (and yes, I may have cheated a time or 6 with my little 150 shot of nitrous, but only when necessary) I always had these guys in the stangs, vettes, camaros, or whatever try to run me on the streets. Get up beside me, rev their engines, etc, etc. At first, I would go along with it just to show them up, but after about a year of playing around, I finally just started giving them a HUGE smile, and turned my head. Talk about pissing people off! I had nothing to prove then. I knew what my car could and would do.

Just an FYI. You would need at least double that power to the ground, to sort of keep up with a stock GSXR 1000. Either the rider didn't know you were racing, wasn't trying all that hard, or had no riding skills.

I think the Vette Z06 would easy win any challenge involving turns against that Talon. Its not all about drag racing. Vettes weren't built to win drag races.

I felt badass when cruising with my dad in his F350 when I was a little boy. Towering over people, listening to it lope at red lights. Dont think ill ever find that feeling again, but romping around in the 4runner is pretty cool!

lol at talon eating 1000cc bikes haha, my 85Xwhp supra gets pulled on hard against a 1liter bike so umm no he was in 6th gear :peace:

Amen! I ended up on four-wheeler trails yesterday by mistake on my quick spin around some country roads, and I was flabbergasted with how well the Runner tackled embankments, muck trails, and small streams/ditches, and the best thing--only the wheels were dirty. Mine is tightened up with shocks and mounts, but has no lift at all (family protector/my toy).

:nicethread:

At my school its yota gang vs jeepsters, they think theyre the sh*t in their cherokees and wranglers their rich daddies bought them but the yota run the place and when they get stuck (often) we're first on the scene to piss them off and pull them out. In the runner I feel like a freakin badass.
