I was thinking about getting an H2 but after reading this, plus all the other information I read and heard about American-made cars today, I've decided not to get one.
I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to cars and engines. I usually have the dealer do the usual 5,000 mile checks. I don't even put any mods on any of my SUVs (4Runner 05 Limited and a Land Cruiser '04) because..well...I'm just "stupid" when it comes to these things. I just go and drive and enjoy the ride.
I do a lot of reading about trucks and cars and after reading the posts here and from people I've spoken to, American made cars are just of poor quality these days. I am just wondering how Ford, GM, etc. etc. expect to compete if they keep coming out with unreliable and poorly built automobiles. The situation is so bad that when American car companies merge with European car companies, people begin running away from those "merged" cars. I know when I was in UK and they heard about Jaguar merging with an American company, sales dropped! I spoke to a car expert in Donnington, UK and I asked him what American car companies should do to improve it's quality? And he said, "Robotization of American assembly plants.." meaning America needs to employ more robotic processes to build their cars rather than depend on manual workers. He said "the less human contact on an assembly line the better it is for a car." European and Japanese assembly lines are all environment controlled facilities where cars go through an assembly line filled with robots and the only human contact is the guy behind a booth monitoring the computers.
ANyways, just sharing with you some thoughts/experience. Sorry if I have offended anybody about American cars.

2007 HUMMER H2: NEW GLACIER BLUE LIMITED EDITION ADDS TO UNPARALLELED CAPABILITIES
With its rugged good looks and incredible off-road capabilities, the HUMMER H2 and H2 SUT have brought a whole new level of capability and flexibility to the marketplace.
For 2007, the H2 unveils a new Glacier Blue limited edition with a rear-vision camera system. In addition, the Glacier Blue limited edition has a heated windshield wiper system with warm fluid on demand that removes snow, ice and debris, and a rear-seat DVD system with dual headrest-mounted viewing screens, each with individual DVD-players and wireless headphones. It debuts in late summer as a 2007 model, and will be available in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Middle East.
Other changes for all 2007 H2 models include an optional rear-vision camera system and a new rear-seat DVD system with dual headrest-mounted viewing screens.
The rear-vision system features a 3.5-inch full-color display housed in the rearview mirror, which receives its picture from a universal rear mounted camera. When the vehicle is put into Reverse, the video display automatically deploys from the side of the mirror, providing the driver an image of the area behind the vehicle both day and night. Gas prices will affect all SUVs, but you're right, some more than others.

:iagree: Personally, I love the Avalanche and Corvette Z06. How many cars make over 500hp and still get high 20s mpg.

If you behaved on the highway you could get it;my friend's '97 TT Supra was laying down about 650hp to the wheels and got over 32mpg on a 600 mile round trip across Nebraska. At the strip he goes through almost a 1/4 tank of 105 in 6-7 runs.
