I dream of a Taco Box....

So,

As my truck is starting to come along and I have about everything I want planed out I'm down to the last thing on the list at this point. The Taco Box. Now the issue is simple or should be. I have a 99 Limited,E-Locker with Multi Mode. Will this effect the Multi Mode at all. I talked to the guys at Marlin and Inchworm and they both think not but can't think of anyone that has put one in a 99 Limited Multi-Mode. Am I going to have to be the trend setter on this one and keep you all posted or can someone help out on this one? I know about the drive lines, longer speedo cable etc etc I just want to keep my AWD if at all possible.

This with the Aussie Locker will be a winner..

I believe the multimode transfer case (the one with the "center diff") is actually 4 or 5 inches longer than a regular 4runner/taco transfer case and that is where the issue lies.

I hear it won't fit with the stock rear x-member. That would be no problem to cut out, but it holds the gas tank up, and since the case is a drivers side drop and the gas tank is on the drivers side you may have issues. Somewhere I heard that it physically could fit, however its installing it that is the issue. Since you need some room to get the input shaft into the splines of the crawl box. You may be able to drop the tank, cut the x member off. install it. and then tack or make the x-member bolt on somehow. That parts would be all layered and have a specific order of installation.

And BTW you don't have a speedo cable. 4runners use the abs system for the speed signal

And the lunchbox locker in the back with my crawl box was not a good combo, at least with a 5 speed. The extra drive shaft play and slap combined with extra play between all the couplers involved with a doubler made the shifts so sloppy. IT would clunk/slap in the crawl box every time I hit the clutch or let it out. Or when the truck goes up a rock and then down. Clunk - Clunk- Clunk- clunk. all day while wheeling. I replaced it with a spool and its been perfect. I still have an aussie up front and it fine. not saying you will have the same experience, but it is possible.

Was it a Lockrite? A buddy has this problem with his Lockrite and duals - lurch lurch lurch, all the time. It's weird. My Spartan doesn't do that, but I don't have duals in yet either so I dunno...

You can do it! I dream of it too. I ran some trails in the SoCal mountains last weekend. I'm not use to not having a reduction box. Lol I kick a 23 spline reduction box every time I go into the garage. I just need the adapters but I gots no $$$ for that

Why keep the add stuff? If you're going for duals, run a Lefty while you're at it. :D

Ultra low........
