Let me be the first to say that that thing is damn purty. Love the new look! So what model rim is that? I know it's from the "secret" FN menu but I don't think I've seen it anywhere before.

EDIT just checked their website. Countersteer type x in the 16 inch flavor? I wish I had of known about these before I bought my ray 10s. I may have gone with these over the SCS ones

New combo looks stinkin’ good Nick! Those Coopers look grippy as crap and hug those wheels beautifully. Also, gotta soak up that gloomy overcast weather in ABQ when it comes.

When I get my next rig (hopefully some day soon!), I’m really tempted to run some FN’s. Love how simple yet sharp they are.

Strong choice. And talk about a transformation! I thought that your rig looked great before, but those new Coopers and slick new FN's make it look like a new rig. And I have nothing against the classic bullet hole Pro Comp wheels. I had pretty much the same wheel. But these wheels and tires give your 4runner a whole new visceral feel. What are the wheel specs? How much backspace?

By chance do you know how much they weigh? I was shocked to learn the 17" countersteer weigh 20.5lbs which is 10lbs less than a comparable Fuel or MEthod wheel.
The low weight and proven offroad durability is what sold me on these wheels. Aside from the fact that they look great

Love it! Those STTs are meaty as hell, dagum it looks good. Also, not sure when you changed the corner lights back from clear to amber but i'm glad you did, it's a subtle difference.

You're the second person to say the truck looks "purty". My mom in law pulled me aside a few months back and says, "I don't mean it in a bad way, but your truck is pretty". I laughed. I think it's BEAUTIFUL, so thanks.

The "secret" part about these wheels is that they are a limited production offset / backspacing that is by request only. The Type X that is listed on the website is a zero offset / 4.5" BS wheel, and this is what I got (-20mm offset / 3.7" BS ):

Thank, Andrew! The weather was awesome yesterday... I love how the clouds play on the Sandias. I would 110% recommend FN wheels, not only for the wheels, but for the service, knowledge, and attention that Dustin provides.

I agree completely. I should have done this years ago, but the timing was good because it renewed my passion for the rig after dealing with all the recent headaches.

Specs > -20mm offset / 3.7" BS / 18.6lbs / 16x8 / 106.2mm hub bore (true hub centric wheels)

Yes sir! They come in at 18.6lbs, super light weight. I could feel it when I handled them prior to installation. Like you, I was sold on the low weight, strength and durability offroad, AND the fact that they are not a common wheel (yet), in addition to the service I received from Dustin.

The STTs are beef. They will certainly take some getting used to, but so far I have no regrets. At low speeds it feels like you're on a rumble strip, and I can really hear them in corners, but at speed they are only a hair louder than the KO2s.

The corner lights were swapped back to stock late last year, I think. I just wanted a little more contrast up front and the clear corners started to strike me as being a little "lowered Honda-ish".

Mother nature put on a show in Albuquerque today, which gave me the perfect opportunity to shoot some pictures showing off the new wheel and tire setup.

Yep, but with a narrower tire. I'll have to see how it goes with the back of the fender well, but I can already tell that the washer fluid reservoir has to go... I rub it pretty good just backing out of the driveway.

I wanted to stick with 4" BS on my wheels, but there are very few options out there manufactured to that spec. The Ray10 tempted me briefly, but I refuse to play the SCS game and they are a little too busy for me.

Didn't you buy a set of 5th gen wheels for your old rig? The old wheels were working fine, right? I don't buy that logic.

Thanks, Mike! I'm not sure if you recall our exchange awhile back, but you were the one who put me on the trail to finding these wheels. When I saw your post in the picture gallery I knew I had found my next wheel. I almost went with the same silver you got, but decided on a little more contrast. The machined silver works awesome on your black 4Runner, though.

BTW, I noticed you are running center caps on the front wheels... are you 2WD? Dustin told me there was no way to run a center cap on the front with 4WD rigs and looking at my wheels, I can't see how you got those on there.

I agree that SCS almost has a cult following them. Obviously, I bought into it but I was not necessarily happy about it. They were just the only rim design that wasnt as common on 3rd gens but still looked nice and refined to me. But I had to try for close to a year and a half to be able to score the 4 ray 10s that I did, who knows how long it will be before I can get the fifth one.

I'm also not a big fan of the fake beadlock that they come with. As far as fake beadlocks go SCS did a good job of making this one look real, it's actually fooled a few people. The problem is the lip they create hold dirt and water in the rim which makes keeping them clean impossible unless its dry out, add to that they aren't removable so once they're scratched you have to mask off the whole wheel to respray it. I really wish the true beadlock conversion was affordable or they offered them without the fake ring.

I have observed this exact problem on my buddy's FJC running Ray 10s. Every time we go out he's got these spots on his wheels where water collected and dried inside the ring, leaving a nice spot of dirt/residue. It's one of those things you wouldn't think of prior to purchase that becomes annoying.

I popped off that black cap and sprayed rust proof paint and the TRD cap fits perfect. Also Did you upgrade your fuel pump? The reason I ask is because i ordered the 7th injector kit and it comes with new Walbro 190 LPH , I would hate to put a noisy pump in my truck.

I'm a saver too & being a homeowner there's always things that pop up. Sunday I'm putting in a new pressure pump for the well so that's $500 & I'm saving a lot of money by doing the electrical & plumbing myself.
My 3RZ was being built as an offroad rig & after the lift I couldn't drive around on 31" highway tires, I was saving for that build. The Limited is our 4th vehicle & what I meant was that I cant justify new wheels & tires for her when both of our cars (Honda & Suby) both need tires & brakes when the snow tires come off. Also I'm in on the Shrockworks group buy for a RB w/tire carrier for the 3RZ. I'm not rich & the wife just got laid off. You have to pick & choose your spots. The Yokohama AT's on the Limited have been absolutely great in the snow & rain & still have plenty of meat left. I would like to switch from the 5 stars & raised white lettering but a cosmetic change is very low on the priority list right now but I'm always looking in the classifieds & CL for deals. :tea:

The new wheels and tires look great, they definitely help set your rig off more than the old procomps. I'm very curious to see how you end up liking the STT Pros. I'll be in the market for tires the next time the Discount Tire sale roles around and these are on the list of possibilities.
Seeing the old mine shafts are quite impressive. I've never been a history buff or anything like that but seeing how someone could make those 30 miles of mine shafts, 1000 feet down is quite the feat. I'm sure that pictures don't do it any justice.
Kudos on the front end rebuild as well. I understand how easy it is to put something like that on the back burner until its convenient. It's always a bummer when things don't go as planned-especially when out exploring, but at least you can better prepare for next time if something ever goes south. You're new organization with the bags has helped convinced me to be more proactive on making some rear storage to keep everything in place.
