Thanks for posting that actual specs. I remember seeing the specs for the 2010 a while ago and being grateful that Toyota had not ballooned the size of the 4Runner with the new generation like they had done with other models in their lineup.

Interesting how the perception of the size of the 2010 4Runner ("it's Bigger") is nowhere close to the reality that it remains virtually unchanged in size. Reminds me of how companies that make food products change the packing of their products to give the illusion of more product in the container when they keep the size the same or reduce the size. In the case of the 2010 4Runner, they did add 275 hundred pounds of curb weight so I guess technically it is Bigger than the 4th generation.

BTW, maybe the original poster should talk to his daughter about swapping 4Runners? Then again, if she has had her 4th Gen for a while, that might be easier said than done.

I also went from having a 2006 to a 2010. I have noticed that the 2010 has a bit of a heat problem but nothing that I can't live with (Arkansas doesn't get much really cold weather) I agree with the horn complaint though. The new horn is pathetic. It has the exact same horn that my husbands 09 Matrix has. Not fitting for the SUV. Other wise I LOVE my 2010. I do miss my nautical blue one (I can't believe they did away with that color!) Has anyone else noticed the gas milage being less? I guess that would be my only big complaint. I have been keeping up with it and I'm only getting about 15.7 mpg at best. Any thoughts?

I haven't really messed with our (my wife's) 4Runner, but I thought there were memory seats on the limited....

Will double-check tonight, but that was just a surprise right there. I was planning on setting them this week.

I really don't like that my hair is touching the roof of this vehicle and I am only 6ft tall. The option is to lower the seat so much that my legs aren't very comfortable. Now my wife is only 5.4 and loves driving it. That is what matters and I do love the handling and it doesn't feel very large to me (I drive the Armada every day).

All in all couldn't be happier with it

And that is your problem right there.

The 5th Gen 4Runner is a Newer Vehicle but it is in many ways NOT an upgrade over the 4th Gens. Toyota went with a more basic kind of vehicle and removed many of the features the 4th Gens had. The 2010 4Runner is aimed to compete more with the Xterra line of vehicles.

It is bigger than the 4th Gen, but only slightly. I think the reason people think it's bigger is because the front end is a lot taller than the 4th Gen. When you get in and see the hood in front of you, you have the illusion of driving a much larger vehicle.

I wish they would have kept the torsen center diff on all 4x4 models not just the limited and offered the new V8 especially in the TE. I would buy one. I drove a Limited and the power difference is very noticeable. Towing went down 2300 pounds also. Doesn't make sense.

The heat fix did not work. The Dealer admitted something is wrong---they tested another 2010 4Runner they had and it too, had the same problem with cold air pouring in. They called Toyota in California who suggested they insulate a few areas which they did (no idea what they did, but will find out). They test drove it this AM and they said while a little improvement, there is still a noticeable and annoying problem. The car is now sitting there waiting till Monday when they can contact Toyota yet again. I think there is either a serious design flaw or a manufacturing problem. Since we have now identified two vehicles with the problem, I am wondering if any of you are experiencing the same thing.

None of my family will ride in it! I can't blame them. So I have now had this 4Runner for three weeks and it has been unusable the whole time. Absent a fix early next week, I will have no choice but to explore what options I have......

I have a new Limited and my heat works fine. Where are you located? It doesn't get that cold down here in Texas but plenty of nights have been in the low 20's in the last month. It heats up in about 3-4 minutes of driving and I have to turn it down it gets so hot.

Oh and for the record ....I love mine. I have over 2000 miles on it and look forward to driving it everyday. Loved the 5th since the first test drive of a SR5 and immediately ordered my Limited that day.

You may need to drive it around a while longer to get the oils to properly lube up all the components and reduce friction to get a better gas milage. That was the case on my Acura. Also does the 2010 still have the AI which learns your driving pattern and adjusts the shifting accordingly to match how agressive or non agressive you drive. Maybe it is still learning, or you need to get more comfy with the new truck to settle into a driving pattern and AI will adapt you how you drive. In anycase, I don't think the stats ever match reality.

Sorry to hear about your problem. SR5 here with 1,700+ miles and the heater works great. It actually gets too hot.

You apparently haven't driven an xterra lately. The 5th gen may be a lot of things but it aint no xterra. Totally different ball game.

Was thinking the same thing when I starting reading this thread. This aside, wish you luck tom in solving your concerns and issues, and hopefully the 5th gen grows on you. If not, at the end of the day it's just a truck. Good luck.

I would talk with the dealer as you are clearly unhappy with the vehicle. perhaps they can arrange a swap to a 4th gen without a hefty penalty........
