Some prick stole the toyota plug to my hitch:mad: It's the rubber piece with the the toyota emblem that plugs the hitch receiver. Any idea on what a replacement costs?

I so hate f&%kin thieves.:upset:

Yeah that definitely sucks man. I think I saw it at performance peddler for about $15. Instead of replacing it with the same thing, just get a hitch plug, and then get a hitch lock to keep it there.

I almost lost mine when I had a carwash. The carwash guy took it off before it went thru the wash. It's a good thing I noticed it. Only when I asked for it that they put it back, the excuse is they want to clean it better... what a thieving A** :chair:... complained to the manager and they want to give me a free carwash... never went there again.

Ditto on the hitch lock. Got a Master hitch lock and also have my hitch mount and ball attached, no worries. If you do buy a new OEM plug, cut some slits on the top and bottom lips and thread a long enough zip tie through it. Close the tie just enough to allow the hitch lock pin through it when it is attached to the hitch. If someone tries to take it off, it will stretch a little but won't come off.

EDIT: I also found that I had to trim a little bit of the rubber off the OEM plug to clear the hitch pin holes while attached.

Actually, I'm more worried about my wheel caps. Anyone could just as easily pop all four of those suckers off. Ive never really needed to take them off either when I take a wheel off.

I know how you feel. I found something similar and cheap ($1.00 + $5.00 shipping) on Ebay. Here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyo...160056779594QQihZ006QQitemZ160056779594QQrdZ1

If this link doesn't work, just search "Toyota Hitch cover" under Parts & Accessories

Which carwash? Is it the one on Montague Expressway? I'm thinking maybe mine may have been taken at a carwash too!

Thanks for the idea. I just might do that.

I'm really wishing hard for bad karma to happen to the person who stole it. I'm hoping that person wrecks (not at the expense of another party though) or their wheels fall off.

I don't know why this is bothering me so much. Man, I need a hug or something... *sigh*

I lost mine at a carwash as well, but went back the next day and they had it in there lost and found. I havent put it back in since, I dont want to lose it again.

Make that an excuse to buy a trailer hitch! Talking about petty thieves, a month ago I noticed that all of my silver valve covers were gone. I bet a group of kids stole them for their bicycle tires!

That sucks. I usually slightly torque the heck out of my valve caps so nobody can easily remove them by hand. You would need pliers or something to turn my valve caps loose. I carry a small pair of pliers with me in case I need to air up anywhere.

I also usually secure every and anything else on the outside of the truck which can be easily stolen.

-hitch lock
-overtightened caps
-spare tire lock
-anti-theft screws for my license plates
-impact wrench to tighten every frick'n bolt

Call me anal and overzealous but around here you have to protect your stuff.

How do you know it was even stolen? maybe you lost it in a carwash (or something else)

I never take my 4runner through an automated car wash, and I really dont think those brushes are capable of pulling it off. My 4runner is always hand washed at the local car wash. Therefore it either was stolen or it just fell off. I highly doubt it just fell off since my truck is only 4 months old and every other 4runner I see still has theres on. So more than likely some ass stole it because they are too frickin cheap to go buy there own.

I wish nothing but bad karma for that jerk.

Wow, did not realize how much stuff could just be taken off the vehicle. I stuck my hitch cover in upside down, for some strange reason it is harder to get out when it is in upside down, or I had too many beers when I put the hitch cover in, not sure which... I hate petty thieves as well. My question is what would you do if you caught some one in the act? Me personally, as long as the guy/gal was not bigger than me, I would whuup dat azz, and I mean a night in the hospital ass whoopin... (got to choose your battles, cause I aint that big a fella) If the guy/gal was bigger than me I would just ask him/her nicely to put whatever he/she took and put it back... LOL

I hope you find it.

I would not recommend putting it upside down, mine have some grooves on the bottom to allow water to drain out of the hitch receiver. (Toyota thinks of everything, even the Draw-Tite cover on my Mazda doesn't have that.)
