its a newer car anyway... I'm sure you'd love it. don't get me wrong either... I've always wanted a Jeep myself
I turned down a 93 grand cherokee, 5.2 v8 that wasn't quite as nice looking but half the cost of the 4runner because I didn't want to deal with it. it was some serious thinking but I made the right choice.

My last wheeling trip with a buddy that has a 4-Door Rubi was pretty fun. The only issue I have with them is they are all pretty much the same. Other than that I think they are great. As far as crap breaking on them, I think it boils down to what people use them for. Go compare the number of jeeps sold to the other vehicles and see where the %s stack in regards to failures.
It like saying more people die on TX highways every year than any other state. Really? You think it might have to do with the number of freaking people on these highways and the shear number of miles that the TX highways cover?

Buy whatever suits your wants and needs. Some people get tired of the brand loyalty. If you do decide to by a Jeep just make sure you delete you account and then proceed to brush your teeth with a side arm of some sort. I have a rotted out CJ-7 in my garage right now. I keep asking the owner why he's throwing money into this thing and replies with giving me more money.

My decision has nothing to do with brand loyalty. Yes, Toyotas have been good to me. But I am also very good to my vehicles so I believe that regardless of what I buy, I'll be okay.
It's funny that you mentioned rotted out Jeep. How many people on this forum alone have a rotted out Toyota, let alone people on the streets. How many 1st gen Tacoma's did Toyota replace the frame on because of frame rot?
I'll most likely still have a 4runner of some sort for the wife so I think I'll be sticking around for a while. But, her 4runner will most likely stay stock.

The wife could care less about modifying a vehicle. I put a pretty sweet stereo in our Tundra and she could care less about something as simple as that. All of this is fine with me because that means I have more time and money to put into my projects.
I know I'm going to get shunned for this but this is my motivation for a jeep. This guy has done a sweet job building his JK 4-door. 4 link front and rear on D60's:

Have you ever drove a 4 door wrangler? they do have a lot of cool features . And i almost bought one but go drive a fj cruiser and then go drive a 4 door wrangler the new jeeps have the power of a three legged turtle . thats really the only real downer about them i had a 2005 rubicon and it was the best in the rocks and off road but on the road 10mpg average

I don't really see the value in that post. It could go either way from both ends.
You can try and plan an intervention but I don't see it working out very well. Just because I decide to drive a jeep doesn't change anything other than the vehicle I'm in. I'll still wheel the heck out of and build it up a little.
