Here's what I said two weeks ago in the Talk me out of a Land Cruiser thread...

I love the 4R as long as I don't drive the 100.

There is no comparison. But the 200s are ugly, IMO. Why wouldn't you get a low mileage 100 from the South or California?

My love for it has gotten to the point where I can rattle off every 100 within 100 miles: their mileage, colors, and whether they have AHC. I would drive ours more often if I didn't get shit from my husband every time I did.

If a clean white one came up for sale, say a 2006, within an hour's drive, the 4R would be history, much as I love it.

If it had 100k miles when I bought it, I figure I could do another 150 or so. Those numbers are common for guys on Mud.

My brother in law overheard my husband making fun of the fact that I would rather drive his 13 year old LC than the 4R. He says, you know the guy up the road offered you a certified check whenever you were willing to part with it. It's hard to tell if people are serious about their intentions, but I told him he could come drive it. He bought it that night, so I had to find a good truck and only had a week or so to do it.

But I did. It's silver, not white, but I love it. It's getting a Gobi, 285s, OPOR sliders. That's it for now. But you guys know how that goes.

But that's not really what I came to tell you.

I really loved t4R.org and getting to know some of you guys. You are a really funny, adventurous, knowledgeable group of people and I will miss the marshal and stifler comments, the hilarious thread-off-the-rails blinker fluid stuff, j-blicks thread, and just getting to know some of you.

This is a wonderful community and I have learned a lot here. I am hoping to see you guys a little further down the line at the Cove or OEX or somewhere else. All the best to my 5th gen peeps and happy New Year.

I have always said if I found one with low mileage and good shape I will buy one. A local dealer has a 1989 with 100K miles for $20K, looks good in the outside but rough underneath.

I paid 24. Has 113k, one owner, exceptional Carfax. PO did all recommended work at any given mileage, traded this for a 2016 LC. I think it is a very nice truck, but I did not get a deal. If I'd had more time, I could have driven further, but this was the best one within 200 miles of me.

The 2002 we bought in September was a deal. 130k miles, southern truck, no rust, for 9995. As far as I'm concerned we stole that one. Have yet to see another deal that good.

They are like anything; look long enough and you'll get a good idea for what your money could buy. I have no idea about the 80s series trucks as far as price points go.

Love those old Broncos. I teach my seniors the novel No Country for Old Men, and in the film version there are some very nice 70s Fords I always drool over.

I'm taking a month-long trip this summer by myself to Montana (ok, husband will fly in for 2 weeks once I'm there) which I'll write about on expo. So I'll see you punks there.

I was thinking about picking up a LC100. Modding new vehicle all over again is $$$. I have a factory rear locker on my runner and most LC100's do not. This will be $3-4K for front and rear lockers.

That's how it starts. It sounds so innocuous.

Only the early 100s had oem lockers.

I wish. Colorado is a way friendlier state for rafting. Damn Montana landowners have the rivers all hog tied. I very nearly pulled the plug on the whole trip and went to Colorado again instead, but I think I pulled together a decent trip.

Come to Wyoming! I'll be there mid July.

What would be cool would be a forum for any Toyota or Lexus with body-on-frame construction. Combine all the Taco, 4Runner, LC, Lexus, FJ forums. Yeah I know good luck with that.
