Last week I finally took possesion of my new 05 4Runner V8 Limited. This is my first Toyota and I love it so far. I moved up from an 02 Pathfinder LE and although I was sad to see the Pathy go, I love this new truck.
Here are some of my thoughts and first owner impressions:
*I love the torque coming off idle, this is somthing my Pathfinder never had. It should make a big difference towing my boat as the Pathfinder could do it with no problems just a little more screaming and crying.
*The Stability Control is interesting, I took the truck into a parking lot to get more "Aquainted" with it. Nice. I wish you could turn it off though.
*The Traction control takes a little while to get used to. I works but the jerking and clanging and banging feel a little weird.
*I do miss the Memory Seats from the PF. Why?
*The Stereo is nice but I expected more.
*With the T3 the truck is so fluid with power delivery. The PF had an Electronic Clutch for this it worked well but there was always a slight delay which coupled with a rear LSD made the rear kick out first under hard acceleration in the slippery stuff. You could also catch it testing if the traction is back under acceleration which gives you a little rear end wobble again. The 4R is just all business.
* The pedal placement sucks for wide shoes. Thank god it is more likely you will hit the brake with the accel not the other way around.
*When the truck is cold and in fast idle you really have to keep your foot on the brake as it just wants to go.
* I love the std trailer hitch and 7 pin. All I have to do it get a 7 to 5 Flat for the trailer and I am cooking with gas, no rewiring a useless 4 pin.
* I can't get my Homelink to work with my Garage Door Opener. My PF Homelink worked and I tested with my Neighbour's Honda. I think mine if Fubar.
* The Airbag cover on the wheel sometime pinches the controls for the volume and makes then stick.
* I wonder what the 0-60 times are now with the new V8. Some mags listed the 04 V8 at 7.2, I wonder if that has changed.
Anyway, sorry to blab on. I am just really excited to finally get this truck after waiting since October.
