Installijng my stage 1 lift in the shop right now and I'm not sure where the cylinder looking spacer things go. There's 4 of them and the instructions don't mention anything about them. Anyone know? About two inches tall, one inch in diameter. Stainless steel finish.

Sounds like the front coilover spacers. If that is in fact the parts they are spacers for the bottom bolt of the coilovers. There should two different sizes, as far as I can remember the larger one go toward the front and the smaller toward the back.

Picture of the part would help.

Pics would help.Sounds like the rear lower spacers as the front ones are pretty small.

This.

Sorry guys, I didn't have a way to upload pictures from my cell phone, but they are not the front coilover spacers. Those are much shorter. I'll take pictures soon. I finished the install after about 8 hours of work and then I drove it home (shop was closing). As I was driving home, there was something cyclicly grinding on the front left wheel. It almost sounds like a dragging brake but it wasn't pulling in either direction.

Still not sure what those parts are, but I kept them for when I do figure out what they are for. The mechanic on shift couldn't figure out what they were either.

One problem we did run into though was that one of the lugs on the front left rotor sheared as we were reinstalling the tire. Sigh, guess I'll take it in to the dealership to see if that is covered under warranty. The saga continues, but I'm too tired to go dig out parts and take pictures. They'll be up tomorrow.

Hope the noise is not your sway bar hitting your coilovers. Do you have KDSS? If so, this would not be the problem. The normal sway bar is the only one that needs to be spaced. If it is not, it will contact the coilovers and mark them up pretty good.

You may have just bent the little dust cover thing into the caliper.

I do not have KDSS. It was definitely something that had to do with the rotation of the tires though because it happened in a rhythm that depended on how fast I was going.

As mentioned above, make sure the brake rotor guard did not get bent. Also make sure the bottom shock mount spacers were oriented properly so the drive axle is not rubbing the Coilovers.

I would recommend going to a different shop. It sounds like they could not install your kit properly and cross threaded a lugnut while installing your tires.

The noise you are hearing that coincide eith tire rotation is most likely the brake dust shield. It probably was bent during the reinstallation of the front coil overs.

Get some pics of your "extra" parts so we can help you identify them.

Hey Duca,

It's just a DIY shop. It's one of the military auto hobby shops. I went in there and borrowed their tools/expertise. We might have bent it just a little bit at the end bc they were closing on us and we needed to get out.

The thread was not cross threaded because we checked for that specifically. It was legitimately sheared which is why I am probably going to take it back in to Toyota to have them put another lug on.

Alright, I'm refreshed from my nap... here's some pics

Control arm hardware. I'm guessing these aren't extra hardware left over. What's inside your upper control arm bushings?

Son of a... These are supposed to go around the long bolt that holds the UCA's in aren't they? Inside of the bushings....

My roommate helped me put the UCA's back on and I guess we didn't notice that they would fit in there.

Damn it! That's going to be a lot of work to pull those back off. Is it safe to drive it back to the shop?

Pictures really did help. You didn't mention new UCA's in your original post.

As stated, those are definitely UCA bushing sleeves and washers.

If the shop is close, and its the only way, then you should go back taking it easy, and reinstall. Double check everything to make sure nothing was damaged.

Your UCA's must feel pretty loose without those sleeves in there. Also, you are not supposed to reuse the factory washers.

Remove the UCA's, press the sleeves in with the supplied grease, and re-install with the new washers.

Yea... I didn't really have instructions for the UCA's. Or at least I couldn't find them. Are the sleeves supposed to be centered on the bushing? Do the washers just go on either side of the sleeves?
