ID this rubber plug?

Hi Folks,

I've yet to find a decent parts fiche online for the 4Runner and can't seem to find a part number for this part - a round rubber plug maybe an inch across on the inside top left and right of the liftgate, maybe a bolt access plug? If you open the liftgate there is one on each side, and the one on the left is missing. Local parts guy told me not to worry about it but I'm guessing it is to keep water out, and just bugs me a bit every time I open the liftgate and see the plug on one side, and the round hole where another ought to be on the other side.

Any help appreciated!

I don't have my ride with me but that sounds like the access points for the bolts for the spoiler. Are they "inside" or "outside"; If they are inside of the gasket I wouldn't be concerned about water entry. As far as aesthetics, I can understand how it could bug you. Sorry but can't help you with a part number. I would think a Toyota dealer would be able to get you a part number.

I think this is the plug you need. I agree, it's difficult to find. It's not shown on any parts diagrams for the lift gate or the spoiler. On mine, the plugs have Ø30 written on them which I'm assuming means it's a 30mm plug.

Try this site: TOYOTA | Japan Parts EU and enter you VIN, you'll get a full set of nice looking diagrams. I always use this to locate Toyota OEM numbers.
You can confirm your search with http://www.toyodiy.com, they don't provide diagrams but it is a decent source of info.

I see full diagrams on toyodiy. They also link the descriptions to the diagrams.

Are you sure? It's weird because on Toyodiy I can only see the lists of parts with no diagrams at all. This info is taken directly from that site:

Yeah, I've always had diagrams, but I joined before 2009 so maybe that's why.

Do you have local "Pick-A-Part" Yards? Some might sale online. I had one Parts store that sold from a number of yards. Good Luck!

This topic is almost 4 years old so you may or may not get the answer you seek..but try a good auto parts store or several and see if they have some rubber hole plugs assortment and you may get lucky and find the correct size you need.
