Ideal Tire size for 6112/5160?

So, I am looking for some advice. Can either 255 or 285 work with 6112/5160's and JBA UCA's running on stock wheels. I have the 6112's set to the highest notch up front (for around 2.75 of lift) and I have Icon 2.0 springs in the rear. (see picture)

I know the tire size question has been kicked around a lot. I am looking for someone with experience running a 33 inch tire on stock wheels.

Have you looked at this thread? At the bottom of the first post is maximum tire size fitment and it is broken down by how much lift is on your vehicle and what modifications will be needed. All tire sizes are based on 17" wheels if you are looking to stick with stock wheels.

I have 255/80's with the JBA uppers and required a wheel spacer, keep that in mind. I thought about swapping to 5th gen wheels but just paid for 5 mount and balance and spacers were actually cheaper.

Actually used that as a reference for my set-up now. Just looking for some first hand experience. The guy at my shop keeps telling me that I can do 285's without any offset issues from the stock rims. But that thread says otherwise.

Rod, damn that is wider than I was thinking if I go with 255's. I was thinking along the lines of a 255/75 to stay away from having to use spacers. It must give it a nice stance though...

When I tried to install 285/70/17 Duratracs on my stock sport rims, the tires rubbed the spindles to where you couldn't even seat them on the front hubs. You would need a rim with more offset or wheel spacers.

Just spent a good 10 minutes on the phone going back and forth with a local shop. That is a tough size tire to find, the 255/75 too.

265/70/17 will probably be the easiest to find across multiple tire brands and easiest to fit as you likely won't get any rubbing.

Tire Rack? Just make sure that the installer knows how to balance a lugcentric rim..

Interesting, i did some more searching down the forum rabbit hole and there were some older threads with people claiming they ran 255/75s with no lift.

I did move my fender liner inward a bit, but that was when I had my 255/75/17

At first when I read your first post you said 255 and 285, we'll that's width, you have many options in those 2 ranges. Later you said 33" so if your looking for 33" it is 255/80/17 and 285/70/17. A few options on the 255. Tons of options on the 285.

255/75/17 and 275/70/17 are basically a 32.25" tire. Not as many options but still plenty.

Type all sizes in tiresize.com

Any 255-275 you should be ok with stock wheels and no spacers. Some 275's will be close. For sure 285/70's you will need something to space it out.

I was referring to width, but excuse the ambiguity. I thought a 255/75 was closer to 33 than that, but noted. I got some good feed back from everyone. I think I am leaning towards the 255/75.

Went with a set of BFG Mud Terrains in 255/75.
