Hey guys, here's another option Mangowalk 3" Black Short & Stubby Rubber Antenna Mast : eBay Motors (item 230415257576 end time Mar-21-10 21:55:13 PDT) from mangowalk. I've used their stubby antennas for my BMW and it's a quality product. The base of the antenna measures .63". the base of ours measures .69". The difference should not be noticeable. here's a pic:

do you need to modify this antenna in any way to fit?

i'm pretty sure you don't have to modify it as it has various mounting stud sizes. it should screw into our antenna base with no problem. hold off on ordering until mine arrives and i'll post a review and pics.

DOH! It dawned on me I could test fit my BMW stubby antenna to my 4R. Nice fit in my opinion. So here it is. Never thought I'd be proud of a 3" stubby :lmao:

The antenna finish actually matches the base perfectly:

Has anyone noticed any degradation in signal reception with the stubby antennas? I'm in a pretty rural area, so I like to get some of the distant stations from towns 100 miles away. That three inch stubby looks good. Probably wouldn't even notice it on my black SR5. The OEM mast antenna hits that garage door every time I pull in or back out.

I haven't tried the reception with my 4R. I didn't keep the mounting stub that would fit the 4R but I will tell you the signal on my BMW was not copromised when I switched to the stubby.

It looks very nice! Personally I don't mind the mast, I think my mind automatically just passes over it because it is such a 'std' item. However, seeing the little mast I might change mine.

Question: Have you tested the reception yet? I am curious if it limits your ability to pick up certain stations from a distance?

Guys, the one I have is the Mangowalk antenna. No reduction with reception on the BMW. Waiting on new antenna to arrive so I can test it out. Will report back.

i just ordered the one of mango walk in hopes i can just screw it right in and not even notice a difference in reception or quality.....fat chance but we'll see
