Ideas for my 4Runner??

I have a 2001 4runner limited and am looking for advice on good mods. It has 140k miles 265/75 16 firestone a/t's and a magnaflow muffler. Tomorrow im taking the running boards off and next week i want to paint the wheels either gunmetal grey or black (haven't decided yet). I'm a freshman in college so i dont have a ton of money but i can make things work. also im looking at coil spacers.

You would get more responses if you gave a bit more context. Do you have mechanical ability or a friend who does? Do you plan on going off roading at all or just around town? That being said, the two most popular mods are deckplate and intake silencer removal. Another popular one would be weld on sliders, LED lighting, or CB radio.

Nice truck man! I love the 2 tone color scheme!

I'd say paint the wheels gun metal...black rims are too common....or leave them silver...I would actually love to have your wheels!

Also, could I convince you NOT to buy the coil spacers? I did the same thing for my front setup when I first lifted it...and hated it. The ride was horrible, and just killed my springs even faster. You could get a set of used TRD 4X4 Tundra front strut assemblies and pair them with some Land Cruiser coils for your rear, and that would cost you about the same as a spacer lift! The difference being, the Tundra/Landcruiser stuff rides a whole lot better. As far as other suggestions, ISR and Deckplate mods are fun, they give you a little growl when you step on the gas! Some emblems or decals can be found for cheap on Ebay.....the sky is the limit man!

Also my current tires aren't even a year old should i just wait until they wear out and get the 35's then or try to sell my tires used and then buy them?

I would wait. I think selling tires is an endeavor that will leave you butthurt.

You can piece together a Tundra/LC coil lift for ship, which is what I am working on.

Figure $125 for TRD coils w/t stock Bilstein 4600s. And then some LC coil 8 wraps for $40 shipped. And then some Bilsten 5125s or some 5100 Tundras, another $160. Or some cheap a$$ Monroes for $30 total on amazon.

So the range for that is $195-$325.

Yes, and you won't have to worry about torn CV boots or CV's in general (which are on 4wd 4Runners only)

Regarding selling your current tires, Id say to just keep your current tires. You *should* regear if you are planning to run 35's and those costs can add up. As for lift, listen to what the others have said and stay away from spacer lifts. They ride harsh and wear out your suspension components faster.

Great advice Rip. That's how it started with me. It's a good thing I can fit a mattress in my Runner now.

If you run the Tundra stuff up front, you can add a Toytec Top plate spacer (better than running a coil pack spacer), and it will give you about 3" of lift.

You can also get 8 wrap coils for the back, and run the Bilstein shocks, and then add a small 2" Body lift, and you should be able to run the 35's. Not quite sure on that though....as I'm only running 33's and researched that only.
