If you could have any other SUV besides a 4Runner..

'95 Bronco. Better engine than the '96, top comes off and easy to work on while being not full-size truck size
'95-96 Toyota FJ80 or the Lexus LX450. I'm a Toyota guy at heart and the solid axle (with lockers) is awesome. Reliable and new enough to offer great creature comforts.
H3. I'll get hell for this but I love the squat-greenhouse look. It'd have to be the Alpha version though. I loved the single-cap concept truck and loved that they did a 4-door truck (with optional slant-back shell). It's a shame that Gm has killed the Hummer name.
If I could have anything, it would be a Mercedes Unimog in either 404 or 406 platforms. The Doka is so awesome. Unfortunately, awesome=expensive.

Yeah, a bunch. I'm sort of a car whore. I buy something...fall in love with it...hit up/contribute to its respective forums/local clubs and chapters...start modding...buy something else...
Unfortunately, once I sell something, I can't ever let go. Fortunately, there are plenty of car guys out there so I think I'm not the only one that has that problem. I spend more time trolling around other forums than I do for my 4Runner.

I'd take a 1997 Land cruiser 40th anniversary edition. Has factory F+R lockers, leather, automatic climate control.. so nice.

I don't understand why people don't like H2? I like it.
I can't stand it. If you want a Hummer, buy a real one -- an H1. It will be noisy, slow, and ridiculously cramped inside for its size (yes, I have had a ride in one). It will be capable offroad, provided the trail is wide.
But the H2 is just a poor imitation of the H1, slathered in bling. The H1 is a real truck. The H2 is a comic book interpretation. Yuck.

Ah, a question I often think about. I used to be all about the Jeep SRT8 GC but the looks don't win me over enough to buy one. Would like to drive one; one once kept up with my Cobra very well.
The BMW X6 is REAL nice looking.
My favorite SUV right now, that I would LOVE to have is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. I'm unsure of the years but the one that looks like this:
But for an actually off-road capable SUV...I'm not really sure. H1 maybe!

Isn't the 4runner is the "poor man" Land Cruiser? Every vehicle has its purpose.
What's about 4runner and Lexus GX (more bling)?

They are a bit big and really aren't that well built (rated as one of the most unreliable vehciles in the US by JD & Power) and the stigmatism of having oversized rims thrown on them by most owners in favor of their intended purpose tires which is toward off roading (I've never seen one on the trails) and they've become a negative symbol of excess in this country which causes them to be targets of vandals/treehuggers so owning one just carries a bit of an image and another perspective of the haters is most owners are attention whores and buy one just to be seen in one or making up for inadequecies.
It's just a collective of perceptions that hurt the H2 which is mostly the owners and not the truck itself.
The thing I hate is when people do this to an H2 which contributes to the negativity toward them as being a bit of a goof truck and not taken seriously.
