. I'll see your 10 years+ and raise you ten. My first car was a 1952 Buick RoadMaster with a straight 8 engine and Dynaflow transmission (infinitely variable). What a lucky kid. I paid $200 for the Buick, saved from what I earned working 6 months in a local supermarket. It lasted about 6 months, I did a lot of learning on it and in it.

I turned the wheel just before the dead end and we ended up doing a 270 degree spin right through the turn and barely missed the gate and the boat launch. The car wound up perfectly positioned to just drive back out - I was trembling for about 10 minutes afterwards. We were lucky to be alive - however it would have made an awesome stunt for a movie

Back at 17... I had a '68 Mustang with environmentally friendly AC (holes in the floorboards). After some hard lessons learning to drive a manual with rear wheel drive in the snow (and some welding of new floorboards) I could then pay for college!!

You all are too fancy for me. I didn't even get my first car until my junior year in college and it was an 85 Ford Escort. It had all the toys, like manual transmission and power seat belts... I just had a daughter, I guess I should start saving up now if 4-Runners are the norm for a 16 year old these days. I figure by 2020 the price should be somewhere in the 60's-70's. :dammit:

My first car at 16 was a inherited 1980 chevy caprice classic station wagon. It had like close to 200,000 miles on it. No tape deck. Just a am fm radio with a broken antennae.
It was silver and I drove that sucker to school dances and sport events and I SOMEHOW STILL PULLED CHICKS...
I guess you could call it a dropped SUV...

My son is 20 and yet I have not allowed him to drive my 01 runner yet. That is because I am afraid he will scratch it.
In Nigeria it cost 1million Naira+ to own the 4runner I am driving so I pamper it a lot. Or how else can a civil servant raise such a whooping sum of money should anything bad happens to the toy

I'm planning on doing some stuff to it. My mom said that all the stuff I would want to do to it could be a Christmas present. I like the sport bumper trim (I believe is what it's called) but I don't know if I really want that. I'm not going to supercharge it or anything like that. I'm just interested in changing the way it looks. I just don't know what I want. My dad says I can do whatever I want to with it cause it's my car and he has no say in it.. just as long as it doesn't mess with our warranty.

Well you guys and gals might all be the youngest or the oldest or have the nicest ride, but I'll bet kssalawu is from the farthest away and his '01 gets him the respect he deserves...
I borrowed my Dad's '82 S-10 when I was a kid (criminy listen to me, sounding like I'm a geezer), until I saved up the change to buy a Honda XL 250. Now that was some cheap reliable transportation.... until I planted it into the side of a 4 door sedan at about 50 mph.
